Fall Peak Weekend, Presidential Winner, Baby Shower, and a Big Night Out

What an absolute joy of a weekend. The temps were perfect. I could not stop taking pics. So many years the beauty has not been as vivid and just dried up, but this year we had more color and I had more time to enjoy and bask in its beauty. Above was the scene while ironing. Always love looking into the woods while ironing.

The kitchen view of course had color.

The sun room was gorgeous! And the doors were kept open to the sunroom since the temps were mild.

A Winner has been “CHOSEN”?

While posting pics I saw that Biden had been called has the winner of the presidential election. I posted a statement in Facebook that it wasn’t my candidate but that regardless I had BIG BIG expectations from Mr. Biden to protect our rights as citizens and not let our country go to pot, as it already has and that he has some big tasks ahead to reverse it. I really just want to live in a safe place, have appropriate rights as a person, and for everyone to love one another. Even though he is not my candidate, I will hope and pray for him and will still expect for my rights as a US Citizen to be met and to not have any further hardships as a country. He has a lot on his shoulders and I hope he is up to it. Of course as soon as I posted it – my friends started commenting and attacking one another on the post. And telling me not to get ahead of myself. I stayed out of it. Even when you say something nice and have good intentions people attack it on Facebook. I’ve come so close to just deleting the entire account a few times. But it holds so many memories and photos on there, that I hate to. Plus I don’t want to lose contact with friends.

I was told it wasn’t over yet. It’s not. They are still counting. Yes anything can happen. Still, I can post what I want. I don’t know who to trust and who to believe but I remember what it was like in HR and you did an investigation and the mud slinging started and anything and everything started coming out – true or speculated. So glad I don’t have to deal with that stuff anymore and this reminds me of those days. I just try to ignore it because you don’t really know what is fact or fiction as I sit in my little house in Mount Juliet.

So I’ve not looked at the news this morning. But as of now, as far as I know, Mr. Biden, “Tag, Your It” and we will see what you can do in those shoes. I expect much of you as I would any leader! I will still expect the same from you as I did Trump. I was not a fan of Trump’s arrogance and tweets, but he seemed the best candidate in my opinion that matched where I wanted the country to be. I think those traits really hurt him in the presidency. I’m not sure any candidate can adequately run our country to tell the truth. Our country is mainly changing because of the people in it and their attitudes and corruption. So if anyone can solve those issues and keep us our rights, more power to you literally! I will pray that the Lord moves through you!

Katy’s Virtual Baby Shower

Saturday morning we had time to leisurely work on household projects, laundry, some planning, and getting ready for the week ahead. We were in Gallatin, TN by 1:00 p.m. for Katy’s virtual shower.

My SIL Susan had some little snacks sitting out.

What great fun!

We then hung out for a while after saying our good bye’s virtually and we headed to Madison to the new Yahoo Brewery there. We had plans to celebrate Susan’s birthday.

Everyone nearly was outside. And why not – lots of spread out tables and seating and the weather beautiful and deer grazing nearby.

George, Kevin, and Susan. And I did my best to get a selfie with ALL of us. I’m not good at that.

Afterwards we went to have a nice meal at Lincoya restaurant in Hendersonville. We shared a poutine dish which was OUT OF THIS WORLD!

Poutine is fries, gravy, cheese curds, and onion straws. It also had bits of roast beef in there. They had so many nice things on the menu that it was hard to decide. So when Susan said she was getting a burger I let me eyes wander over to that side of the menu. And I liked what I saw and could get my salad too! And as it turned out. I think it was the best burger around, possibly the best one I’ve ever had. I was hungry and it was snarfed down in a hurry! No fries. We already had them under the poutine! I needed the salad!

We sat by a most unusual clock. Susan said it was previously owned by Conway Twitty. The restaurant we ate at used to be Mallard’s. I will want to go back here. I really liked it.

We came home and slept well and then had a big day Sunday at home. Once again the leaves falling got my attention as we had some wind gusts mid-day. This is looking out my office window.

More of the sun room. I told ya I couldn’t quit taking pics.

Big Day of Shopping Online

George and I gave Alexa a lot of ingredients for our shopping list for Thanksgiving. We will go ahead and get what we need for the meal this week. George secured the Smoked Turkey from Aldi. And I sat down and began ordering things. George’s, Momma’s, Aunt Martha’s, some for Katy. George will have to help me with the men, and he always does. But we are in good shape.

Christmas plans are also coming together sortof. So I am feeling good about our weekend progress. I stripped the guest bedroom sheets and washed them so I will shift some focus onto the cleaning – as there are things that need to be dusted and cobwebs in the corners and such. I did get our blue linoleum floors mopped yesterday – except the part where Maisy was sleeping. LOL With each mop stroke, I dreamed of my new flooring – coming soon!

And now I need to go get a second cup of coffee and get to work. Oh, I painted my nails which needed it. It won’t last but 3 days. I need to get a top coat I guess. I just cut them all short as my attempt to grow them is not working right now. I really miss getting them done but I am wanting to use that money toward my monthly subscriptions I have – in support of my hobbies. So when I look at my nails I remember how much I love making the imovies. However, I did not have time to work on the current one in progress due to the HOLIDAY HOOPLA and events we have had planned but I keep making some more footage so we’ll have a lot to do going forward.

I am trying to remember to video more as life happens. But not very good at that in public yet. I also have noticed my iphone getting slow. I deleted a lot of old video footage from it Saturday while we were traveling in the car and that helped. The goal is to keep getting better on every level. I am going to start working on my 2021 plans soon. Looking forward to that. In the mean time we stay focused on the holidays to try and make it special for everyone as it’s different this year.

Here’s my 2021 goals so far! LOL. Don’t worry it’ll be filled up soon. January is Grandbaby Month and February is Flooring and Hibernation Month. That is all I have so far. Ok off to more coffee! See ya mid week or as I have something to say!

Fall Camera Shots, Baby Showers, and an Evening OUT!

I was in the laundry room – you know – doing laundry and ironing and all that great stuff. I looked down and laughed. Maisy was all in the sheets and hanging out with me. When we left to go vote, she actually slept in there. So I’m thinking of making her a bed there for when we are gone. Roger seems to take over the dog beds (all of them) and so she won’t get on them unless I have a clean blanket over them. So I think I will just put a blanket there for while we are gone then Roger will go for the softer bed and leave her area alone.

Not long ago I used a credit on Audible to download Hamilton. I was shocked at what my credit was bringing me. Wow! Thirty Five hours of listening time. THIRTY FIVE HOURS!

It seems that when I go back and forth from house to car – it doesn’t sync. Maybe there is some setting I’m missing, but I have to listen to it over again usually (you can’t fiddle with things in the car while driving). So I decided I would have a dedicated laundry time book going since I spend a lot of time in there every week. So, yeah…wonder how many months it will take me to get through this one? lol

Got the kitchen clean! It wasn’t too bad but I did have a few dishes to clean up after the Friday night spaghetti dinner.

She is my special girl, following me around the house wherever I am working.

Friends asked us out to dinner last night and we had a splendid time. On the square in Lebanon, TN eating at a new to us place called “Town Square Social”. Oh my gosh. It is wonderful. An old building with modern touches and yes a very social atmosphere. I don’t think there were a lot of social distancing going on. It was crowded. And we had a great time eating off of this WIDE range of a menu. It had bar food, but it had salads, tacos, burgers, pizzas, wings, mac and cheese, grilled cheese sandwiches, Nashville Hot dishes. And the food was special, not your average. (Sorry dudes in the windows).

We had wings, chicken nachos, and pizza for the table. Then we each ordered our own meal, knowing we would likely have 2nd’s for another meal today. The pizza was from their wood fired oven and was just a piece of heaven. I want to go back for more! We are putting it on the calendar to accompany a Lebanon Christmas shopping trip one Saturday.

Lebanon, TN is about a 20 to 30 minute drive from our house. Reaching it’s outskirts in about 15 but the innards of the city is probably more like 30. It’s a small town with quite a bit of growth lately and of course we have decided to “rediscover” what it has to offer with this upcoming trip. (Yay more to video, LOL).

Here was the brick inside the building. I took a pic mainly as it is “texture” I can use as transition pieces between videos.

So I took some pics outside with the camera and some video of the fall trees and George mowing. Really just wanted to see if I could video properly. I also did some videoing inside the house. Just kindof redoing some of the video I had messed up earlier having it on the wrong settings or SOMETHING!! Everything came out ok. I guess I took both raw images and jpeg images and need to learn more about that. As I got a TWOFER (two for one surprise). I think I had it on the settings that the guy in the video told me to have it on. I’m anxious to see the differences b/w the two and to learn more about what it is doing b/w the raw and jpeg. I have no idea what I’m doing yet. But. I know more than I did and was happy with the images from yesterday. George did a great job cleaning up the yard a bit and doing a final (maybe we’ll see) mow.

Here playing around with the focus spot through the lens. Focusing here on the bench chair in the woods.

Here focusing on the closer object, the leaves. I love, love, love, being able to do this where it is blurry in the background!

LOOK! It’s a drive-by greeting!

So the leaves are starting to turn with the recent cooler temps. The day temps are still very warm 60’s to 80’s.

You can see the cemetery begin to come into view.

And there is our house from the cemetery.

And a focus in on the leaves in front of me…

The camera did a wonderful job of capturing the detail on the tombstones.

And of course this morning, I had leftovers as I watched The Wynn’s getting back to their boat in Tonga. Yeah I know, so much for diet mode. Thus drinking lots of water, not planning on eating again til dinner, and planning a lower calorie – perhaps even a cleansing day – for tomorrow!

Just kind of a cloudy day today with a bit of rain moving into the area apparently. I’ve been behind on keeping up with the weather! Some days I’m surprised. That is NOT like me.

I’m going to be working on the iMovie some today I think. But I do have some other things I need to do – like a Target order for some household supplies. A friend at work is having a baby and I need to send something to her house. That is what I had planned all along that way she doesn’t have to wag it from work to home but it’ll be delivered. We can’t have any kind of parties at work, celebrations, or birthdays now, due to COVID. No sharing of food or anything. They did set up a table for her at work with balloons and flowers. It was very pretty. But lonely with no people or love surrounding it.

Katy had a shower yesterday given by her friends. I am not sure what I can share/not share. I think she didn’t want a lot shared by video but I think she is ok with a few things in the blog. I’m pretty sure I’m safe to share these few things if I rub out some details of the location. They are not allowed to share anything with company logo, or property etc. The shower is not on the property though. Isn’t she pretty, my girl? I put a star over the ranch name. In case you wonder what that is, LOL.

This is how big the baby is!
Party kitchen, it’s just Gorgeous!
Caramel Apples

The shower was so pretty. Looks like a wonderful fall theme related to pumpkins “Little Pumpkin on its way!”. I can’t wait to see all the things she got for the shower. Looking forward to that facetime call! And that is all she wrote for today!

Starbucks, The Shower, a Squirrel, and Father’s Day

I treated myself Friday to Starbucks, using up the ends of two gift cards (Thank you Katy and and Wood Personnel – yup, I’ve had them a while.). I only owed 17 cents. I think one reason I hadn’t used the cards were that they had low balances – not enough to complete a transaction. But it was really nice. My favorite coffee at Starbucks is the Pike Place with Cinnamon powder on top. The Cinnamon kinda knocks down Starbuck’s overbold coffee. I think they always have superstrong coffee as many people put things in their coffee. I like mine black but from there I get Cinnamon. Of course me being who I am, a middle TN hillbilly as you all call us, asks:

Me: “Ya’ll still have that Pikes Peak coffee?”

Starbucks: “Yes – Pikes’ Place coffee, ma’am”.

Me: “Ok I’ll have that –just black with cinnamon on top”

Starbucks: “Is that the cinnamon syrup or powder?”

Me: “oh, powder please”.

Starbucks: “What else”

Me: (Having my order all ready to go having looked it up on line a few minutes ago forgets it) Ahhhm, I’ll have that ahhhh —(all I could get out was…). “Spinach”

Starbucks: “Oh the Spinach and Feta Wrap?”

Me: “Oh yes”. (I love this guy he finishes my sentences for me).

Drive thrus are hilarious with me. Anyway, I enjoyed the wrap although it was hard to eat while driving. And it totally hit the spot! I was so happy that Starbucks was so easy to get to in the morning traffic now. I may have to make it a Friday tradition now until school goes back into session.

Friday night George fixed us a Nashville HOT Catfish meal. Oh my it was good. We had salad and a cup of Red Beans and Rice with it.

I actually got up and made some tarter sauce for dipping. I’ve really had a lot of mayo lately and it’s going to soon be showing on my hips. But a bit of mayo and lime juice (we didn’t have lemon and I think I liked the lime better) and I chopped up some pickle. What a fine dinner. Lately we have been eating in the sunroom and just enjoying a slight breeze – but the last couple of nights the breeze has had to be instigated with the fan in the room. Probably getting a bit warm to be in there now as the cool evenings start to wane and the humidity begins to rise. We will have a few surprise evenings here and there to open it back up and read, eat, or sip wine and check cell phone messages is more like reality.

The dogs love the sun room. They hang out with me in there. Roger in his weakened state tried to jump up there and missed. Bless his heart. Momma came to the rescue.

So both George and I were extremely tired from the week Friday night. The warmth of the sun room and pollen and outside coming through did not do us any favors. Why is anything good that you like bad for you? Ice Cream and Outdoors and Pie? So I decided to go to bed and George was going to get in a movie. I threw Maisy on the bed at 8:00 p.m. telling George to come take Maisy out at 9:00 when he takes Roger. They go out about 9 for one last time. I am not sure why I didn’t just take her out. I think I was just THAT tired. But also if they go earlier than 9 they just wake us up earlier the next morning wanting to go out.

So I threw Maisy up on the bed (more like a light tossing, lol) Anyway, she was so excited that she started throwing herself against the pillows and rooting around and she pee’d all over everything. I was so mad. She has not done that in a long long time, like when we first got her. I think it’s a form of marking and I’ve read that it should be a compliment, lol – that it means she is happy and wanting to mark the spot as hers and our domain. But trust me I most certainly did not take it as a compliment. As tired as I was, I had to strip the sheets, the bedspread, pillows and go get them started in the wash and then I went to the Guest Bedroom. Meanwhile George heard the commotion and came back and worked on the mattress, as it went through.

So sleeping in the Queen bed Maisy and I got settled and I threatened her to “no pee…you better not” with my finger pointed in place. She tucked tail and went to bottom of the bed. I told her “I love you anyway, just don’t do it again.”

So about the time I got comfortable and my weary spirit and tired bones gave up and rested, here comes George and Roger. George had given up on the movie 10 minutes in as he was really tired too. Back to the Queen size and I felt every inch of it. And the snoring began in my ear. A triple whammy of oinnnnnnn, gnnnnnnnhhhh, fphewwwwwww. I stared at the ceiling and prayed Lord please let me sleep I am so tired. I was about to get up and go to the couch just feeling like there was no room but sleep came and it was quick.

Saturday morning we got up and had places to be and people to see – not something we have been able to say a lot lately.

We went to a graduation party for one of George’s cousins. It was outside. And come and go. I tried to stay on the outer fringes of the mall crowd.

The online shower was a lot of fun.

I had ordered Ellen a cake and it turned out cute for those at the shower at their house.

I bought Susan and Kevin and George and I a dessert for our end of the shower at Susan and Kevin’s. Susan and Kevin had bought a BBQ lunch for us.

Publix had this Strawberry Shortcake Tarte that we put on Susan’s beautiful platter. It was pretty.

I ordered flowers to be delivered for Friday for Ellen. So Ellen steamed from the nursery and opened gifts. It was great. I think it’s probably ok to show the Mom to be opening a couple of gifts and you can see the nursery which has mountains painted on the wall. Ellen loves the outdoors. And she had just been back from camping in Colorado.

I absolutely loved it (and so did everyone) when she put the baby towel on her head!

No one declared bingo until everyone began to try and use sentences with the phrases. Everyone had all but ONE. So that was fun. Once we determined who it was that said Bingo after we awarded the prize, the person said “But I kinda cheated”. We all laughed. It was fun anyway.

Katy did a cute game with fill in the blanks. Name that song! See if you can get it. I don’t have all the answers but I think you can google it.

Katy (daughter) and Susan my SIL, and I stayed on at the end to talk a bit.

We were laughing at there was one left with us but no one was there. It was an aunt that left the room but didn’t know how to turn it off. Fun times! And that’s almost us! ;-O

So I think the shower went well.

Then George and I headed to the store to get steaks for Sunday and headed home. He offered for us to go out to eat for dinner but I was tired and didn’t want to get back out.

I sat in the sun room and watched YouTube videos trying to get some ideas and also catch up on the travelers that I keep up with.

Here was the scene yesterday. Please ignore the vacuum cord. I usually keep the vacuum out there. There is not a good place upstairs to keep the vacuum so it really just gets tossed into the next room that needs it most, kindof like a manual roomba. lol I pulled up a chair to put my legs in. Had a glass of chardonnay and Maisy was making herself at home taking my blanket off the couch to suit herself. And Roger giving up and sleeping on the floor at my feet. Of course moi not pictured as I’m taking the pic, lol!

And that brings us to this morning.

No pics yet, but the new coffee pot arrived and the decanter was NOT broken. I’ll return the other one tomorrow at the UPS store with my label that I need to put on it today.

We are also going to a friends house for pool party cook out. Just six of us I think. It’s Father’s Day and none of us get to see or travel to be with kids so we are all hanging out. We are taking dressed eggs (I need to go make those here in a few). George is making steak kebobs for the grill and also veggie pizza for an appetizer.

I really need to get at it today though with the few hours we have at home. I have a lot of laundry, need to clean a bit, and need to kind of plan the next week or so and look at the to do list. It’s been a busy week for some reason. Just a lot going on, getting ready for the shower, making lists and trying to remember to do things, touching base with people, and just so many things went wrong also that just kinda taxed my brain a bit. I think I was pulled in so many directions this week. So I’m thinking we get a little bit of a break for the next week or two and try to catch up with life and what we need to do.

I’ve not focused on trying to capture life through video this week. Also events where there are people are really hard to do. And nothing really interesting going on at home. Trying to keep the videos positive and if I had video’d this week, I’d be venting and talking about how tired we are, lol. I’d rather wait til we have a better week! I mean I suppose I could video the ups and the downs, and I will SOME, but I mean how interesting is a broken coffee pot or the fact that I uploaded the wrong YouTube account the other day? lol lol But I will begin videoing again soon for the next now that the shower is over and we will have some time again on the weekends.

I may eventually put out a schedule for the channel once I get into a rhythm but I don’t want to do that to myself until I get a few videos ahead so I have wiggle room during busy times. So for now it’s just testing the waters and periodic. We will see how it goes. I’ll be itching soon to to do the next one.

It’s about to rain here I think. Alert came thru for lightning strikes 4 miles from here. We may just be eating and not having the pool part of the party. lol We mainly sit around anyway but usually enjoy getting in and floating around.

I was hearing some weird noises out the window just now and thought it was a squirrel. Can you see the “squirrel” through the window? It’s an industrious “squirrel” working on some bushes, for this early in the morning:

Ok hopefully more tomorrow. I think we feel much more rested today. We both took a Benedryl last night as we got stuffy from being in the sun room as allegies kick in. I’ve had to clear my throat since January. He’s been trying to get me to take a Benedryl since. I finally took one. I think it helped some. And I slept really well yesterday. Had weird dreams but slept really well.

It was so strange that I thought maybe I’d write a book about it – that dream of mine. Then I realized that book is already written by someone else. Mine could have a different twist though. I have to end this post here. If I remember maybe I’ll blog about the dream tomorrow.

What are you doing on this fine Sunday, Father’s Day? I’ll leave you with a pic of my father. He loved to play the fiddle.
