Sunsets, Masks, DIY Cleaning Solutions, and Office Decor

What a great day of “therapy” it has been. I’ve cleaned on the house, done laundry, rearranged my office walls. Everything is always ok in the house. It’s outside the walls that go awry. Well work is fine. But the rest of the world needs some help. My day at home was all one could ever ask for and it’s not over yet and there’s still tomorrow.

To relax during commercials in the evenings, sometimes I will take a glance at my Web Cam online app. I like people watching and weather watching mainly. Lately I’ve been wanting to see if people in other countries are wearing masks. They are. Anyway, look at this pic of a rainbow, sunset, storm that I caught in Cheyenne, WY. (Mona, do you know where this is?).

It’s the oddest place to have a webcam but there is the best weather scenes there in the background. I pop in occasionally to see some nice sunsets or interesting storms.

We had more interesting sunsets here as well. I’ve been known to be in a middle of a movie, look out and sprout from my chair to go catch a sunset yelling “it’s almost too late, I bet it’s too late, where’s my camera?” lol

Of course, at this time of night, even though we have a limited view of the sunset, I’ve enjoyed a moment of just savoring the skies and the breeze. I love the breezes the Lord has sent to us lately. It’s as if he is saying “I know you all are going through a hard time but I’m going to keep you amused with Saharan Dessert Sand sunsets and nice warm breezes for your faces to feel – for those of you that get out to enjoy my little loving rewards that I have provided for you”.

And George has provided good meals of late. I loved the bites of venison and chicken kabobs. He even made a kebob for the dogs to split. Of course he removed the bites for them. ha.

I kinda cheated though as I needed some protein and some “love” and I had ordered this for lunch Friday.

Sadly I ate both Logan’s rolls it came with during the day, along with the rice. Oh dear. So I wasn’t very hungry coming home. I had used a gift card since there is not one where we BOTH can go. There is one close to work so he told me to go ahead and use it. Well I love their salmon and chicken and steak at Logan’s. So I ordered this and picked it up and ate it in my car. I enjoyed my time away from my desk and watched the news since I’m not allowing myself to be on social media.

So I could not eat much of my dinner that George fixed and I felt bad. But…he was able to eat it for lunch today. So that was good.

Our new masks came in.

I have a little mask laundrymat going on in my bathroom. I have Dawn dedicated to mask washing and a little bowl I use to soak them in. Usually overnight, but I had so many to wash lately that I would soak them at least for an hour or two and hang them to dry. I first hang them in the shower.

I have these spots that are made for sponges to hang. I don’t use sponges, so it works out great. When I get out of the shower and I hang the ones that have been soaking to dry there as you see above. And then after they get through dripping they go to the towel rack.

The towel rack happens to hang over over the toilet paper. I don’t like my toilet paper wet. So that’s why they first have to drip dry in the shower. There is a vent on the floor that blows air onto them on the towel rack and finishes them off – then they go to the door knob of the bathroom to be put in either my work bag or George’s work box, lol! So a little system which works well as I come and go from the bathroom. This is all so absurd. Like, last year, can you imagine thinking about having to go through this. I never thought that we’d be going through a real Pandemic. I thought it was only for the movies. Or if so, for a brief period. It seems forever though doesn’t it. I know it won’t be, but for now, it feels like forever. We are starting to wonder if we will be able to travel in August as some of the states are starting to shut borders or are at least considering it. Countries definitely are closing up tight again. So time to batten down the hatches again. I’ve decided I’ll be ok with it. I mean you have to come to terms with it right? Otherwise it will drive you crazy. God says we have to find our contentment in whatever situation. So I’m trying!

So I had researched the cleaning “homegrown” style – a few weeks ago when I feared we may not be able to buy cleaning items. Also was trying to find a solution to the plexiglass shower doors we have that has a permanent array of soap scum that will not budge. It is totally my fault at not being able to keep up with it. And then realizing “oh crap a good scrub doesn’t even take it off”. If it were glass I think there would not be a problem but it sticks to this plexi material like concrete. It’s not coming off. It’s why I bought the shower curtain to go outside of it. Geez.

Note the “gold potty” there. At least some good things have happened this year. I have a totally white potty now! 😉

But….I am noticing that Dawn, vinegar, and water is gradually making a difference over time. And then I use the Daily Tilex spray to keep the current day’s soap scum at bay. I needed a better spray bottle so I ordered a couple from Amazon (they had the labels included, ha) and mixed the two mixtures above.

But the other mixture: Vinegar, Water, Lime and Rosemary (Lime juice b/c I did not have lemon peel, lol) I made for general use. I have cleaned SO MANY THINGS with this general cleaning mixture. I think I like it with the lime juice. I will try lemon next time. You can’t use Dawn in that mixture b/c some things you don’t need the soap suds situation going on. I cleaned crevices here and there and it immediately cleans! I am so impressed. It is FAR better than any other general cleaner I’ve used EVER. Take a peak.

My sink is as spotless as if I’d used bleach and baking soda which is my usual go to for our porcelain sink.

While cleaning I gathered help from George who could give our window some muscle. Got the window cleaned and that makes me happy.

George is making a Lamb Roast for dinner tonight. So excited. I love lamb.

He made simple syrup for the lamb.

He went outside and gathered some mint as we grow some. I also asked him to get enough for some cocktails with mint in them. He said he would fix mojito’s as he had made enough simple syrup for that too! So he did. It was kinda funny. Neither of us use lemon or lime juice on a regular basis. But today we both depleted the lime juice, lol. Mine with my cleaning mixtures and his with the mojitos. Do you know how many times this happens? We are always getting in each other’s way, but it’s all good. All’s well that ends well.

I enjoyed my Mojito. His is soooo fresh. Nothing like you would get at a restaurant. It was wonderful.

I also enjoyed a couple of cups of coffee BEFORE my Mojito. I needed something to encourage me to fix up my office after the letter board came in. It’s amazing how one little thing can make you try to rearrange your whole office. I rearranged it only to put it back again pretty much the way it was. lol I guess somethings you just perfect the first time around.

So this was a no go b/c I liked the table where it was before I moved it here:

So we are going with this:

Because I really like looking at this:

I did add the rest of the “travel” pics to the wall above the iMac. And I added the sailing ship to my table. Since I watch sailing shows and love to travel and in love with the sailing life (Will never happen for me at this point, but maybe a simple sail or a passage sometime).

So it’s not a “lovely” filming pic from when I film from my office but it’s “MY filming pic view”. And I guess I will be ok with that. It looks better and I totally love the message board. I think the phrase “Everything will be alright” is probably one of my favorite phrases. The white roses underneath is a nice touch that I stole from the mantle in the den. Now the den needs something, lol.

George helped me get my white board moved.

So Here ya go. All that and when I film you may not even be able to read the letter board, lol.

Sorry no make up here just testing things out. Ha! You can see I still have brown tinges in my hair. I will soon be cutting it out. But I’m trying to let it grow. I really am enjoying the hair going longer now that I have the new hair dryer round brush thingy!

My hair has more body using that and also not having color in my hair. I’m also getting used to the grey coming in and kinda like the highlights of gray agains my skin. God’s natural highlights. He knows what he is doing.

And still I say that George’s mojito is wonderful. lol

I have enjoyed my day today. And George also helped me to video the last piece of what I need to work on the next video.

So I’m ready to start working on that tomorrow! I’ll be downloading the music. I picked it out already. And I have some ideas going for the next one. So….these are getting easier to do. I hope I can get it down to a rhythm soon. My goal is to do one every two weeks but I think I can only manage to commit to every three right now. So maybe by the first of the year I’ll have it down. Til then I’ll just be “playing”.

But I’m happy with what I did in here today in the office.

I will leave you with a couple of pics. I wrote this list out for fun today. I love George’s “Another Dam List” pad. It’s on our fridge. But I just made one out for you all for fun. I wrote it while drinking coffee this morning and this was my plan for the day. I have done all but “read”. I’ll get to that soon.

And then while cleaning up, I just noticed this below and it just gave me a good a good moment. Good chi, which to me means a good “energy”.

It’ makes me just want to cook! If I only had a new floor that wasn’t blue and new countertops – ha!

Oh well, maybe one day I’ll be in the mood to cook again. I have to like my atmosphere before it likes me.

Anyway, ya’ll have a good day – I’m told dinner is ready and I must go!

Thursday’s True Colors

I’ve not had any Greek for a while now. I decided yesterday on a whim to use Uber Eats to order lunch. It’s a lot of food and typically I’m miserable after. But it’s so darn good. I decided to split it in half and eat half yesterday and the other half for lunch. That was a good portion. I enjoyed it so much. I don’t do Uber Eats very much, but on some days it’s really convenient. However, usually twice the price for delivery fees and tips.

I bought a couple of masks for George from my coworker. She has given me several free but I said I would buy some if she had masculine ones. She does such a good job and hers are so comfortable. The reason I’ve been gearing up on the masks (I have some ordered on Amazon) is that I get the feeling that mask requirement is going to become mandated. And sure enough our county it became mandated yesterday. And of course my masks have not arrived yet. I’m sure they are on a slow boat from China even though it says they are shipping from the US. Interesting when you look at the tracker it shows “shipped from CA”. However – normally you can see “scanned at this location” and then “scanned at that location” but there is no activity. So I am sure they are coming from some out of USA location and before it gets there it keeps just saying “Shipped from CA”. Once it arrives in CA from China or wherever, I guess it will start showing the scans. Does this not just get your gizzard? It says US seller. But I guess that is true. It’s still coming from overseas somewhere, lol. So that is pointless to say that. It needs to say US Manufacturer. I’ll be more specific next time I order. When I order Prime, I really want to get it in a couple of days as that is the service I’ve paid for, for prime. Grrr. Anyway we sit and wait but in the mean time he has these.

I texted him to tell him I bought these yesterday. No response. Am I the only one that their husband won’t respond to texts? Had I been any other person he likely would have at least responded something. I asked him about it and he said he got them but had nothing to say. I said “thank you” would have been appropriate. (??????). And so there you go. My life. May as well have been texting the neighborhood groundhog.

Things like this do not help the pysche. But then again I guess it is why I am here. Someone is reading, listening, and usually will respond. I think I’m a words of affirmation girl and I rarely get them. Heavens to Betsy I might get the big head and think I was someone important or worthy of existing. Anyway, he may hang the darn things from a ceiling fan if he wants. But I have done my part in trying to looking out for him to keep him alive, well, and from getting a citation or whatever they will be doing for enforcement. I do understand people get busy and forget to text back. But his wasn’t that reason. Maybe he thought he’d thank me later. Yeah we’ll go with that one.

Here’s our meals for the week. We eat well. I cooked spaghetti last night while he went to the store. We have a list on the right to “choose from” in the coming days. At least Eating is something we do well together. No problems there. We do manage to email back and forth on that at least. I guess it’s the subject matter that gets the attention. Food does the trick. It’s worthy enough to communicate about. Masks aren’t.

We had a storm come through on the edges of town right around sundown. It made for an excellent glow. The breeze was most awesome. Once the sun was down it was ugly grey but the breeze was still nice. These are actually photos with NO change in coloring.

Well I ordered this letterboard from Amazon to put in my office and it will be behind me on the wall when I film from my office. I will move the white board to the opposite wall. I think I also want a small white shelf to add beside it. And I will have a plant and an item or two sitting on it for decor. A work in progress but want to make it fun for the videos. I have to figure out how to move everything around on the other walls. Something I have to do usually with a beer in my hand mid afternoon on Saturday!

The next video is coming together! I filmed a small session yesterday. And I only have a couple of more things to video before it’ll be set to work on. So it looks like I’ll be able to pull these off about every 2 to 3 weeks maybe in my spare time. Probably by fall I will able to determine what a comfortable schedule is. Right now two weeks is tight and three weeks is doable. If I had to set a set schedule right now I would do two weeks. That just puts the pressure on. But supposedly people don’t want to subscribe if you don’t have a regularly set schedule. So eventually I’ll set one. I have also been looking at the music and I believe I’ve selected what I’ll use for this one.

So day one with the Social Media experiment? It went well. Did I miss Facebook? No not really. I accidentally opened it by habit once because of the red alerts. I think I have over 100 alerts and a couple of messages. How did it impact me on day 1?

Well I felt relieved and I felt a release of sorts. I was more in touch with myself and my feelings and my to do’s and my wishes. I felt a sense of achievement I was not expecting from your comments here and also some other’s comments to me. Others were proud that I had even taken the step to “try it” even. I hadn’t expected to feel I’d achieved anything on day 1. But apparently it is a bigger deal than I thought in others minds to be away from FB at all.

In addition, I finished a Bible Study on YouVersion at lunch instead of being on Social Media. I did not feel more alone. I guess I already felt enough of that anyway. Social Media was not keeping me company any more. It’s not a conversation but a political pull or an opinion play day. I quite enjoyed not seeing any of that mess.

I did miss wanting to post my Greek food, lol. But who gives a fire anyway? Only about 5 people were liking my comments and pics anyway. Probably weren’t even seeing my posts. And I did miss being able to ask why Trump was saying he wanted to defund the testing sites? I saw an article that said he said the numbers would quit going up if we quit testing. I didn’t see how not testing would help. I mean if you don’t want to know there’s a virus there, then stop keeping tally I guess and it’ll go away? I am not really understanding all of it. Do more testing, less testing? I guess I should not watch the news but had I not, I wouldn’t have known our county was requiring the masks. Everything is always so confusing these days.

Anyway – bottom line on 1st day without Social Media – was a success. I’m not having withdrawals but enjoying the extra time. Also listened to music yesterday. I have a song to recommend:

This is Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick’s version of True Colors as in the Troll movie. This song is beautiful they way they do it. I found this consoling yesterday. I hope you enjoy it. I listened to it on my iTunes. I made a note to mention it here on the blog and lo and behold there is a YouTube video. So enjoy.

And hope you have a wonderful day. It’s month end and quarter end so very busy and will be for the next month.

Take care! Only one more day til Friday. Thank heavens!

Mother’s Day Weekend

Well that 3 day weekend flew by fast. I did not get to do everything I thought I would but the trade off was fun as some of the fun things I wanted to do were done, like the video I posted yesterday. Thanks to those who commented here on FB or messages regarding it. It made me feel really good. I realize I have a lot to learn though but find myself correcting others videos in my head, lol. Like – why didn’t they clip that part out? It’s not meant from a critical standpoint though, just a notion of “if it were mine I would have done it this way”. So my point being that now when I watch videos on YouTube I look at it from a different standpoint simply because I’m learning what you can do and what the options are. But so much to learn.

One thing I did do this weekend was to wash the new masks that came in. I prefer to iron them as well. I don’t dare put them in the dryer. Who knew going into 2020 some of us would be looking for fashion masks, lol.

We did get to do something VERY important this weekend. And that was to go see Mom. Maisy rode in the back seat where she was most comfortable and happy. Bless her heart I guess the gift bag tissue was in her face most of the way.

And Roger, a seemingly happy little fellow was miserable most of the way. He wants his Daddy but he is uncomfortable now as he is old and wants to be comfy. And just could not find his comfort spot in a lap. On the way back I chauffered George and both dogs as they rode in the back seat. Maisy eventually came up to the passenger seat as she really wanted her Momma.

We stopped at KFC to get chicken and look at this long line. Thank goodness it didn’t take too long. We were getting the chicken. There was no question. Mom never asks for anything and she asked for KFC and KFC it would be. We all enjoyed it too.

We tried to sit outside, but with a high of 68 or so and the wind blowing, Mom found it too cool. But we set in on binge watching Outer Banks on Netflix. I think we did 3 or 4 shows. Mom told us to pick a show and that is what I picked. Normally she likes the Hallmark Channel but I think she has about watched it out.

This photo kinda describes our day. lol. Very restful. A nice little afternoon with our bellies full of fried chicken, slaw, green beans, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese.

Here was my view. I love the poodle. I guess I didn’t get a pic of Fancy, Mom’s Dog this time. She is a cutie pie. She is 13 and gained a few pounds during the Pandemic. I hear she likes cheeseburgers like myself. lol

Mom’s back yard was pretty. Their area was hit hard with the storms too a week ago with many trees falling over, many with roots and all just pulled out of the ground. You could hear the sounds of chain saws and people were out hauling wood from here to there and yon. It was truly like a small hurricane came through on land. I’ve always liked Mom’s peaceful place there.

I shot a pic through the screen coming in from the outside. Oh if you look close you can see the back of Fancy under George’s foot. lol

I found another hat downstairs that I had used when we had a garden. So I brought it up and added it to the hat wall.

And that is about all she wrote for the weekend! Literally.

It’s a big week for us. Almost overwhelmingly so. While George is working from home we found it a good time for the plumber to come, the roofer to come, and of course Katy and Cody are coming as his brother is getting married.

And this is the week I will be making the decision about the baby shower – whether live and in person or all virtual. And then a week from now will be getting those invitations out.

Much to get ready for Wed night as we are having appetizers but you know our appetizers are going to be the good kind. lol. Findlay will be coming! Looking forward to seeing that girl.

Better get dressed and get to work!
