My Week Alone and the Upcoming Busy Week

A smiling elderly woman with gray hair and glasses is sitting at a desk, holding a cup and looking at a laptop, with plants and bookshelves in the background.

Just a quick little blog entry here. I didn’t blog much last week so just trying to get a little bit of writing time in, staying in touch with my feelings, :-O

It is wonderful to have George back home from his trip. Picked him up at the airport last night. We caught up and talked and didn’t get to bed until 11:00 p.m. and so was a little tired this morning.

It was good for me to have a few days on my own, getting to plan and fix my own meals, take care of myself, take the trash out (ok not so fun, but I did it), trash can to the road at the appointed time, taking both doggies out x 4 times a day (separately) so that means 8 trips out into the heat. My increased activity level has been picked up by the health indicators on phone, lol, making me reach desired number of steps, and activity goals.

I read more with him gone. My schedule was a little more rigid with him gone as there was not much fudge factor with the dog’s schedule – not a 2nd person here to jump in and take care of things. So I tried to get on a workable schedule and it worked. There was only one day when I was flustered a bit. I was never scared of being alone. And thank goodness nothing went wrong like a leak or something. I really have no idea where water main turns off or even where the fuse panel box is. I’m sure I’d find it if I looked in the basement somewhere, lol.

Mom’s birthday is today. We took her to Red Lobster to get crab legs after church. Mom didn’t go to church but she did go out to eat. She enjoyed it I think. Then we got her groceries and headed home.

I enjoyed holing up last week even though I did not get done what I’d hoped but the increased responsibility to cook myself healthy meals, take out dogs (8 times) usurped a lot of time. But it was good to know I could do it by myself, be by myself and enjoy the week and not be afraid. I DID miss George though and we were all glad to have him back.

That said, this week is a busy one.

Monday – Calcium score test, grocery run, and nail appointment (Mom recently had hers done so it’s just me tomorrow running over and getting my done real quick.

Tuesday – Thank goodness an off day but I’m cooking that night – Chicken and Noodles skillet dish and also accompanied by a 7 layer salad which I’m craving.

Wednesday – Mom has a doc appt and we’ll do lunch.

Thursday – Maddie has a grooming appointment.

Friday – we are meeting with friends (still need to plan the time and place)

Saturday is open and I suppose George and I may run some errands or catch up on things at home and I prefer to leave it open if we can.

That’s all for now. I’m just feeling balanced and in a good space after my week alone. It was a perfect week. I’ve wanted to have a week like that for a long time. I wouldn’t want to be alone forever but for me I could spend a month just alone doing my thing. If I ever get everything done I want to do though we’d be in trouble. lol. But I keep busy.

Ok just popping in. I want to do some video editing and reading tonight and probably watching a show with George.

Have a good week everyone and please pray for my calcium scoring as it scans your situation and puts you in a category for being high risk or low risk for heart attack. Insurance won’t pay for it but it’s supposed to be a cheap test as far as tests go. I’m just looking forward to caffeine afterward. I cannot have caffeine until after it’s over. I’ll have to leave a note on the coffee pot b/c at 5:30 or 6:00 in the morning, I won’t be awake yet to remember. lol

More later….

Sonya

Morning Sonya, hope you get good news today from your calcium test…It was nice that you had these few days to yourself I’m glad everything went well, but was a bit shocked to read you didn’t know where to switch off your water mains tap is or how to find the fuse box. These things are so important I hope now that George is home he will make sure you now know..these things have a habit of needing attention at the most unexpected moments…( I know from experience ) so get that at the top of your list please. Have a lovely week it certainly seems a busy one ! God Bless
