We Saw Sasquatch and Change of Plans Due to Next Weather System

There’s been a Sasquatch sighting in the woods behind our house near the graveyard! One day George and I will go out there on a Sasquatch hunt and video it. 😉 Looks like he has plans for Mardi Gras! Our neighbors put this up and it is so funny. You can see him when you drive by the neighborhood as there is light shining on him. As a kid my grandfather took me to see Sasquatch at the movie theaters. My Mom and Nanny really didn’t want him to take me but he convinced them it was just a fun nature show. And it was. I always envisioned him being up above the Washington state area and up among Canada. But now, according to the gift shops in Western North Carolina – apparently he has been seen in that area as the gift shops are full of Sasquatch products there: T-shirts, mugs, investigative kits, lol.

This is amusing. Apparently we are either collecting “pi’s” or we came home with River’s electrical outlet cover. Yes, the latter is true. We plugged our cell phones up and I remember Katy saying “where is the outlet cover”. She found another one I think. I guess it got caught up in George’s things. lol. But now we know where it went.

Changes of Plans

So……we have this big snow storm coming now. It’s arriving Saturday evening and lasting for a day into Sunday evening. I plan then, to work at home Monday. Tuesday it should be in the 40’s and hopefully can go in and get payroll done.

Susan and Kevin have decided not to come this weekend as they were traveling from Knoxville. The meteorologists and weather service warnings are saying 4-8 or 3 – 7 respectively. Some models showing up to a foot where snow banding occurs. So….ummmm…I guess we are going to get some unexpected free time this weekend. Don’t get me wrong, I was looking forward to our guests coming and even invited them to get snowed in with us. But for obvious safety travel reasons they decided not to come this way. So our weekend has opened up. I can truly say I NEED an open weekend “stuck at home” to be able to get some things done around here. I think God is looking out for me. I prayed for some down time, where my brain can catch up with life, where I don’t have to go anywhere and can just ENJOY a DAMN DAY at HOME! AMEN! Sorry for the curse word but I’ve not had time around here to do anything. I need a rest day – a piddle around day (Sybil & Mary —Sybil laughs b/c to “piddle” in UK is to pee). It probably means that here too but people use it loosely in the US (possibly mostly in the south) meaning that to “piddle around” is to “do what we want around the house”. Sorry to curse and use the word “damn” but I mean that is how strongly I need a day at home. I’m trying to be patient with January.

What will I do with the time now that the weekend opened up?

  • Change our sheets
  • Put the Christmas Trees up
  • Dust
  • Vacuum
  • Fix breakfast
  • Watch a YouTube show
  • Put up some Christmas Gifts
  • Put back out the normal Nic Naks
  • Forget the outside world exists
  • Clean my office
  • Record Roger’s Video
  • Do a Target Order
  • Order some things on Amazon (spending birthday money, gift cards, and Amazon Reward dollars)
    • At the end of the year George and I split the Amazon point money and buy ourselves something, lol. 😉
  • Do the Winter into Spring Bucket List
  • Go through Mail
  • Empty Trash Cans in all the rooms (like my office etc.)
  • Cancel Isagenix Autoship
  • Order my next Audible book
  • Plan next week (find Mom a hair cut place after hours)
  • Dismantle the bed in the office
  • Put up the Christmas China back into the cabinet
  • I’m sure there are other things I’ve not thought of yet but on my list

Once I get those things done I can start the next wave of projects. But right now I look around and longingly want to do things, but have to stay on task to doing the most important things – like laundry, food for work, or getting ready for the next thing that is about to happen, or sleep, or trying to meet everyone’s needs.

Last night we watched a show while eating salad and soup. We are watching Imposter’s and it’s really good! Little Bit came and sat in my lap. But by end of show, I was starting to drift off.

Quarter end is coming along slowly. We are still trying to get it to balance. Most of the afternoon yesterday we worked on it. We found two issues. One where someone’s address was changed to their new state when they moved and the system didn’t have that state set up so the wages/taxes/insurance did not tabulate in the proper state and made the wages off. Typically they are supposed to wait til after there is no pay to change the address. I kinda new that would be an issue and even mentioned it, but people do what they want, so address was changed and it caused a problem. And the other is a coding or programming thing where insurance is making the gross number lower – but gross should just be gross. I think it’s programmed wrong. Bottom line, numbers didn’t match from one part of the system to another and it was the insurance amount. And there are still some things off balance but we ran out of day.

Today I will do my Friday things for payroll and then dive into QE. But I will also be packing a box of files and my calculator and taking a bunch of things home. It’s a haul to be able to work from home. I am in a lot of files and also I can’t print from home. So it’s a big mess to keep up with everything that needs to be printed when you go back. It’s not efficient. But technically I can’t afford to lose any more days from work. Next week is ALREADY shot down with a legal meeting and two days of doc appts back to back meaning I’ll have to leave at lunch both days. One day is already made up as I already go in early on Tuesday’s. And I’ve probably already made up the other day this month already by skipping lunch every day and staying 30 min to an hour later every day. But geez. Now this snow day for Monday. My life. Oh my gosh. But what can you do? Embrace it and go. lol

So I’m going to get off of here now and make sure I still have my keyboard, mouse, ethernet cord, and everything to hook up to the internet. Big sigh. But I’m plowing forward and trying to make the best of it. And I fully intend on embracing this suddenly free weekend and working on some things that have been howling out to me to do.

So, are you going to be impacted by this next weather system coming through?

PTO Time, Mini Basement Flood, and Pushing to Get My Agenda Accomplished

Funny this was one of my calendar pics this week, reminding me that I can do it, just not all at once. lol. Life seems to be getting busy now that the seasons are starting to turn. I always laugh at me “Hustling Less”. The blog is my reminder to slow down and enjoy life. But the world around us seems to keep us in a whirl as we try to “fit in” our own agendas, somehow. Oh well, I don’t want this blog to turn into another “ain’t got time for dis or dat” kind of blog entry. I’ll save that for another day. lol. Haven’t you heard that song and dance enough from me?

Since there is nothing hot and juicy to tell I’ll just speak from the heart. So…forgive me if I DO complain about not having time to do what I want. I’m sure I will.

I’m most worried this morning about my Katebug, who says she has her “sinus infection” going into her lungs and it feels like she is breathing in dust. I have told her this is NOTHING to play with to get to the doctor as it can come on fast. She has parent teacher conferences today and can’t go to the doc. I’m really worried about her. She has also been prone to having pneumonia. I need that girl back up here with me! They are having a tough time down there I think with being sick and trying to parent. They have a good support team but — I miss them and worry about them.

The week is going by fast. I have been a bit tired lately but rest seems to help. I am having one of those weeks though where I feel like a robot – just going from work’s list, to my list, to sleep and then start all over again. Rinse (shower time, lol) and Repeat. In my “free time” –if you want to really call it that –I’ve done the following in the evenings after work:

I have followed up with the police report and ordered it via email. At least I think I have. Government websites are weird. It sent me a copy of my request (the form I completed on line asking for the report) but did not say, “we’ll send you a copy”, how long it would take, or even that they received it. lol. I just got simply a screen shot of the form where I asked for it, no words, nothing. Weird. I guess we’ll see what happens, if not I’ll call and get their office business hours and go down there – meaning more time off work I guess. ::sigh::

I also refigured my PTO with the current amount plus what will accrue til the first of the year. Since I’m salary and paid bi-weekly my accrual is 4.896 per pay and there are 7 more pays after this last pay day. I have 48.126 hours and with the upcoming accruals will add 34.272 more for a total of 82.398 – if I did the math right. I’ll be rolling about 32 to 40 hours into the new year for our trip to Texas of 3 PTO days plus one or two more if needed. I’ll be taking 1/2 day for Mom’s walk through where she sees the house for the first time and only time before closing to make sure all is well. Then she closes 4 days later so I’ll take the whole day for that.

I want to take 2 days at Christmas – one for shopping, one for wrapping. If Katy and Cody come I have that extra floater day that I was rolling into January that I could take a day for if needed, if the schedule works out.

And that leaves me with two days to take off to help move or help Mom set up her new household. The rest will have to be done on the weekends or maybe some in the evenings if we want. I think life is busy NOW, just wait a few weeks. lol

Also I was thrilled to just be able to get the coffee beans ground for the next 7 days. Geez! lol

I finished folding the laundry and got the ironing done Monday night – it’s mainly just pressing because I hang dry my work clothes. They last years longer that way. I ran out of time on the weekend trying to get other stuff done and we were gone much of Saturday and then was busy videoing the Beef Bourguignon on Sunday. So not much time to do housework and laundry over the weekend but I did get the vacuuming done in the main rooms. Need to do bedrooms this weekend.

I ordered some things for Mom and put some things on the grocery list for her. Some of the personal items she wanted you can only order by the case on Amazon unless you do the “fresh” order. But it’s non emergency and so we’ll just get those things this weekend at the store.

Oh I can’t believe I didn’t tell you since this is big – the basement flooded a bit. Somehow. It has to do with the pipes that connect out back. George knows. I don’t understand what happened, but he switched the switch to septic tank and said the problem will resolve itself as it was an overflow. So he’s been doing the wet vac and fans downstairs. I don’t think it got into Mom’s boxes or anything but mainly rose up through the downstairs toilet and overflowed from there and into the garage. ::sigh:: IF life can’t be busy enough.

So the rest of the week will be hard to get ANYTHING done on the list, as I get nails done tonight, we are going to a dinner Thursday night for a fundraiser banquet for a group we support, and then Friday night Mom and George have plans for us. I’m interested to see how that goes. Anyway, “no rest for the weary” as they say.

I have a push to get next week’s meal plans done (so I buy the right stuff at the grocery since the challenge starts for me 10/1), do the fall bucket list (it starts 10/1), work on my “community serve” list (it’ll be more like serving family and friends – also starts 10/1) and then I have a few emails to make that I should have already made (yikes) and then I can begin working on the other list – the one I showed Monday in the previous post.

Ok I’m going to say it “I never have enough time to do what I want to do” and it’s so frustrating! I have looked longingly at my Fall Bucket List poster board and constantly saying “soon”, “soon”!

I’m trying, I really am. I’m set and determined to get a few things done. Looks like I’ll be penciling these things in for 10/2 Saturday morning though, lol. Unless I can get to some of these tonight after getting my nails done.

I’ll be working on the video in the morning so will see you guys Friday morning for another post! Friday posts are always cheerful because it’s Friday. 😉

Is there something on your list that you get frustrated you can’t or won’t get done? My list changes weeks to week and I guess I put too much on there to begin with!

Why are We so Busy?

Morning! The coffee sure is good as I sit here and sip and type. It feels busy around here! We keep ourselves busy even when we are NOT busy, so it’s just always busy. I think perhaps it has been so busy at work and personally with so much going on and not enough brain time to soak everything in. I end up waking up at 1:30 and not able to go back to sleep because my body and brain is using that time as “think time”. So the last two nights I’ve woken up at 1:30 and not gone back until 3 or 3:30. Alarm goes off around 4:20 – I hit snooze – go back to deep sleep and it goes off again and again until I’m finally so irritated I get up. LOL! I also have a tendency to do this around a full moon.

It is definitely a full moon. It amazes me how some full moon’s don’t pull the energy around as much as others. I don’t know about tidal flows and such. I wonder if different moons bring in varying tidal flows at sea. See….look at my brain go. I’m way too curious about things for my own good and I’ll probably google that by days end. If I can find time. In all my lists, I need a “google list” as my curiosities are outweighing my time to google. Also on that list would be “how do the French stay so slim when they have such good bread?” I heard a couple discussing that on a recent video I watch and it’s perplexed me since. More than one person has said to lose weight eat like the French. I’m not eating snails – I mean, no wonder!

So Today is technically my Thursday – even though it is Wednesday! I’m feeling it. Normally on Thursday’s I’m counting the days til my free day. My free day is not til Sunday! Well I’m going to Mom’s Friday night, and we will be doing girls time. It’ll be fun time but no “free” time until Sunday. When Sunday gets here, I’ll be doing my normal “weekend thang” and trying to gnaw down my list some. Lord please help me to make some progress! These things are keeping me from making more videos! The sooner I knock them out, the sooner I can get back at it.

Most of these things won’t take long but just finding the minute to do something, AnYtHiNg! It seems every minute of my day is filled with something else.

The less urgent things are here. Many have been on the list for some time. The last two lists have not changed much and I’m not going to post those as I have posted all of these not long ago. Only the first two lists change. I do not plan to do this 2nd list before getting back to making the videos. But the many things on the first list just need to happen before I set in to having personal creativity time.

Colorful Car Wash

So last night after work I went “grocerying” after taking the car through the car wash. It needed it so bad. The birds are finally migrated from our parking lot at work and then with all the salt and snow and ice I had to get it washed. Also yesterday my mirrors were so dirty I could hardly see traffic. When it’s a safety issue – it has to be done. So I stopped on the way to the grocery as it was still light out. The line was long but it moved fairly quickly. I paid for the big wash! Wheels and all!

I love our little car wash with the colors. I’m like a kid every time I go through. Here is a video. LOL

Grocery Run Fun

Going to the grocery was fun. It had been a while. I was out of all my favorite things! So I’m good for about another two weeks I think. George will likely go again and if I need something he can get the urgent needs. I won’t have time again for awhile. I loaded up on some frozen entries for work. But also bought some fresh items, fresh salsa and hummus too, for healthier snack options. I allow myself to eat the tortilla chips. I try to buy a healthier version if I can, but at the end of the day, I usually just grab and go. I forgot the avocado though! I wanted to have avocado toast with a bit of fresh salsa atop! Also the salsa is good on eggs. So at least I have that. Anyway I bought fresh strawberries and plant to slice a few fresh ones for my shake this morning.

Get out the Cameras, I’m cooking tomorrow night!

Tomorrow night I’m cooking in the Instant Pot for the first time ever! Can you believe it? I’ve had a mental block against it. I felt the directions were just too specific. But all in all, what could be better? I was thinking it was going to be complicated. But so many people use them and love it and say that they are so glad they have it and couldn’t do without it. So I am “making myself” try it Thurs night (tomorrow night). I’m making a red beans and rice recipe. It just sounds good. And looks easy. The meat (smoked sausage) I’m cooking separate in the air fryer. And will toss the sausage slices in on top of the red beans and rice! So I’m excited to cook tomorrow. Also will have to pack for Mom’s. I will have a “few minutes” to do some things tonight after I get off of work and before dinner. George is cooking tonight. I’ll have to see what is on the menu board.

And so I need to get going! Can you believe it’s in the 60’s here this week? Gotta love weather in Tennessee, going from a Polar Vortex to the tropics in just a couple of days!
