Surprised at the Diagnosis and a Beautiful July 4th

A woman with short gray hair appears multiple times in this collage. In one section, she is sitting at home looking surprised, while another shows her with a black cat on her lap. A blooming flower pot is visible in the background, and the collage features text about a medical diagnosis.

Good morning. Here’s the link to the vlog this week. Next week is WACO, which gets its own video, then Breckenridge and Abilene, Texas and on the ranch, falls into the next one. You can watch this week’s vlog HERE.

So yesterday we had a nice 4th. I was happy to have most of the day at home to work on things here. I’ve been working on my NOTION. Which I’m happy to say is coming along, since I gave up on having the calendar on the main screen. It’s ok. Just a click or two and it makes the Home Screen look better without the feed. I’ve been fighting with the columns a bit. That is the #1 aggravating thing about Notion is making the columns behave. Once you get it right it acts up on the mobile version. So I opted for single column life so it shows up correctly on all devices. ::sigh:: But I’m tired of fighting with it. I want an aesthetic feel, an inviting space, and a structure that meets my needs. I mainly use Notion now as a planning space, a note taking and storage spot for thoughts, plans, ideas, information, etc. I moved my grocery and shopping lists, movie lists, books to read lists, recipe list to my iPhone Reminder app. And that works better for me. So I’ve enjoyed my Geeky time this week trying to get reorganized and “reset” so I can be efficient and functional.

At 3:15 though I was not ready to go as I was knee deep in my NOTION restructure but it was time for the introverted me to go be social and I practically did it kicking and screaming. (Inside my heart, but no one saw it.) Once I was there I had a good time. It’s always good to see old friends and acquaintances. And the food was great. I meant to get a pic of my plate but I dove into it. Sorry. Burgers, dogs, beans, lots of salad, and desserts. The typical July 4 holiday food. But I did get a few pics.

River (Katy) sent me a pic of him eating a July 4 cupcake so I sent him a pic of me eating mine. 😉

A smiling young child in a car seat, wearing an orange shirt, holding a red, white, and blue cupcake.

He loves him some cupcake! lol. Look at that smile.

A person smiling while holding a colorful cupcake with red, white, and blue frosting, indoors with decorative elements in the background.

Ok that’s a little up close for my liking but anything for the grandson right?

A young boy with short brown hair smiles while holding a colorful painting of decoration candles with blue and red element designs, standing in front of a brick wall.

River got to go to a painting class yesterday, and he painted firecrackers. He starts Pre-K (4) this year at school and he and his Mom bought his lunch box. He is so excited for “big school”.

So the lake was beautiful last night at the party and the sunset did not disappoint! Matter of fact the sunset lingered for a long while.

A sunset over calm water with a silhouette of a tree on the left side.
A serene lake view at sunset, with vibrant colors in the sky and a person walking along the shore, framed by trees.

Fireworks began shortly after but the sun was still setting and the pool was a bright vivid blue. It looked beautiful.

Fireworks illuminate the sky above a tranquil lake at dusk, with a glowing blue pool in the foreground and silhouettes of trees and people.

We came home and took care of dogs and headed to bed. But I was thankful for a nice relaxing evening with friends, enjoyed talking to friend Kim G in particular (food, recipes, movies we were watching, kids updates, spiritual things, places to eat, etc.) and was grateful that I didn’t feel alone or shy sitting in the corner somewhere.

Believe it or not, I heard fireworks at 2:30 in the morning, darn them! That was so rude. Not allowed after a certain time but anyway, was woken up by them in the distance. Sleep score was only 64 last night. I had a bed exit for a bathroom break and we didn’t go to bed until almost 11:00 and got up at normal time. So perhaps tonight we’ll get more sleep.

Today I’m making crock pot chicken tacos with the ranch dressing and salsa verde like Katy made for us one night at the ranch. I’m also changing George’s sheets today, cleaning the fan blades, washing the dogs bowl and mat in extremely hot water, which I do occasionally to fend off bacteria. I will dust our bedrooms and do two loads of laundry. I also will be planning next week and I think it’s going to be busy. Mom will be taking up about 3 days (grocery day, nail day, and a doc appt day), we pack at church one day, and George and I have errands to run one day and will be trying out a new breakfast spot that day. I also have to start looking for a dress for a black tie event wedding. (oh my gosh, I never dress up like this and it’s so intimidating to me – not to mention costly….ideas anyone? Are fancy pants suits an option for black tie? Like I don’t even know what the rules are).

So hoping the day goes well. I will finish constructing (rearranging) my Notion today and then start the planning. I’m looking forward to that! I will also transfer footage for the next vlog and store away the most recent video files now that they are on YT. So a fun busy day. I love the Saturday planning and turnaround.

Everyone have a lovely day.

Hello Sonya, I enjoyed your video today! Thanks for sharing. You are so brave girl and I live vicariously thru you…Truly your structure keeps me motivated and I feel that we have the same feelings specially since I too am an introvert. I don’t know if it’s that I’m an introvert or if my age has me feeling this way specially menopause. I’ve been thinking about my feelings lately and I swear I had postpartum depression back then but I never knew it. I feel like most of the time I just pushing thru. Not sure if that’s good or bad. BTW, my bone density results said I’m good for my age, my vitamin D was super low (and I live in Miami :|) so go figure! I’m going to start a poster board like yours to set my goals and have my husband participate since I believe he will enjoy it. Just today, he’s moping around asking me where we should go for dinner when all I want to do is work in my office. I’m hoping that will keep us motivated. Thanks again for sharing. I hope you feel better!!! You are not alone friend!

Oh yes you’ll enjoy the bucket list. We enjoy it here. Glad we can all support each other. I had a really good day today even on 6 hours sleep. Have had an array of fruits, avacado, cucumbers, greens, and lots of water, lots of protein and feel stronger. Nutrition really helps as does exercising even if I’m not losing weight. Have a good rest of the weekend!

Great as usual…loved seeing how the boys are growing. They both look so cute…
As I type this I’m seeing the dreadful disasterous flooding. ….so many deaths including children. I know Texas is a huge County but I’m praying that the. Flooding is not near Kate, Cody and the bairns….
Hope you have a good week ahead. God Bless
