George’s Birthday, Maddie at Bedtime, and a Viral Video!

Good morning. A little mid-week blog here. We have been birthdaying! George is 65! The big one. He joined the “free” gym that comes with his insurance and Medicare. So he’s been going every other day and using my walking pad at home on the days he doesn’t go.

He loves his sushi, so we went to Mori Mori. He got his sushi and I’m pretty fond of the Bulgogi (meat and veggies over rice – with spicy chili oil I think). Mine was enough for two meals. The chili oil was more pronounced the 2nd day. This did not bother my tummy at all. We enjoyed a little bottle of dry saki which was very pleasant.

It was nice to get out on Monday night and do something different for a change! I still was able to get my video edited this week and it’s uploading as I type. I’ll do thumbnail tonight. I gave him several birthday gifts that I collected over the past 2 months. A much needed lamp for reading. I’ll show it in a vlog in a couple of weeks. I gave him two very different books that I thought he would like based from the reading community (vlogs I have watched) and one is completely the most strangest type of book I’ve ever seen. Be looking for that a few vlogs down the road. I’m about 2 weeks behind real life, sometimes 3. I gave him some anchor hocking glass bowls medium and small, with the plastic lids. I’m enjoying the glass instead of plastic for us. That seems to work out better and seems like we needed more. Also gave him some Starbucks coffee k-cups. He will have a cup during the day sometimes. I do too on the weekends. I gave him baklava, and pasta “nests”. Got all of it on video and will be on the August Vibes or End of Summer Vibes video that will be upcoming.

So big news! My video of giving notice kinda went viral. I have at this moment 58 thousand views and 1.94 thousand subscribers. I’m blown away. I mean being that it took 4 years to get to 577 the day before. So I’m quite grateful. I had been praying that the channel would grow but only when it needed to because the Lord knows what I can handle and when it’s time for more. I was ok with the coasting and vlogging. I knew this one would get some attention but honestly had no idea. Apparently it’s a topic that plagues, interests, confuses, and brings out a lot of feelings. I tried to read and respond to each comment. So many shared their stories. There’s a LOT of people out there about to RETIRE folks. Employers beware. And most do not favor giving more than TWO WEEKS. There were a few souls out there that would do what I did, but most not giving anymore than 4 weeks. Most were adamant that I’ll be cut before my date given arrives that it was a mistake to give notice of 4-5 months. But everyone was generally very nice for the most part and wished me luck. Only a couple of comments were cold and judgmental but those are always expected here and there, but most were very nice. One called me self-centered and self serving and well, I couldn’t agree with him more. Isn’t everyone supposed to give their own notice? lol. I was nice to give more than two weeks but met my employer’s request for 4 months. So ok, self centered it is. lol. I just laughed and went on. There is so much of that to come so one has to shake it off and go on. A lot of hurt and angry people lash out at others but 98% of comments very supportive and wishing me well. I’m excited to have a larger community now. Grateful for each one that has personally subscribed. If missed the video, see my previous post on the previous blog entry. Maddie’s Sleep Hole

So I make Maddie a little sleep cave every night when we go to bed. She seems to love it. I toss and turn some in the night and she is not a fan of being disturbed. But she will crawl into her little sleep hole and be able to sleep undisturbed by my tossing and turning.

This makes me laugh. It kinda happened by accident when I had the pillows stacked up and a small cave was created and she went in it. So I recreate it every night. Sometimes though we will still snuggle up if we are cold and or just needing snuggles as we drift off. Lately I’ve been turning the temp down more and find it helps me sleep.

I also involve Maddie in our choice of sleep sounds for the night. I will play sounds from my “White Noise” app and if she doesn’t like it she will just stare at me. If she likes it she will wag her tail. So we select our noise every night. Last night it was “ocean and crickets”Singing Crickets and Slow Tropical Waves”. The night before it was “Crickets Chirping”. She seems to like the crickets. And that made me feel like (remembering) I was spending the night at Mamma’s – as a kid, in the back woods of Spring Hill near Chapel Hill I guess. Very close to where the KOA is or was back then. Well still about 3 to 5 miles from there. Old dirt roads and lots and lots of crickets at night with the windows open. I think I’m pretty fond of the cricket noise too for falling asleep.

Ok I’ve got to wrap it up. It’s always time to go do something else.
