Blooms, Sleep, Productivity, and Milestones

May is just a beautiful month. Lots of blooms. It’s short-lived it seems. I supposed we need to plant more summer flowers that come back that are pretty in June and July. We used to have day lilies but after a while they quit coming back. But who knows how long we will even be here. The peonies are just beautiful.

We have a group of irises that bloomed. Since George thinned them out years ago, somehow they just did not do as well. He was trying to keep all the colors from morphing together. But now we just don’t have many left in the iris bed and there are no more varieties of colors. A bed like that of varieties is hard to keep. We are not necessarily green thumb people, lol. We wanted to be, we just didn’t have the time, and I could not stand the hot afternoon temps to garden after work.
Sleep. Is this Good or Bad?
Sadly, my sleep cycle is revealed as I failed to plug up my Apple Watch and it gave me a report. It congratulated me on 8 hours sleep which I got because it’s the weekend. Otherwise it’d have been 7 or less. But look how many times I woke up. I really haven’t studied this at all, so I don’t know if this is mostly bad or mostly good. I would think waking up so many times is not good. Not sure how long CORE sleep should be. I’ve always known my best sleep is the first 3 hours. After that I toss and turn.

What wakes me up? Being uncomfortable. So I roll from left side to right side to left side, to back. Sometimes I sleep on my arm and it goes to sleep. I’m hoping a new mattress will help. We are trying to do so much though. But I am thinking it is going to be a MUST. The mattress I’m sleeping on is before we moved here. It was before 2006. lol. So I need to do something before long. I think George wants a new one too. Now that he is retired, I can buy one from work and we can rent a U-Haul and go get it. Unless he doesn’t want to fool with having to get it in the house. But I can get a discount.
Productivity Today

I’ve really got a lot done today. Mainly because we got home from church so much sooner. It’s usually around 2 or 3. But today I think it was around 1. So I had some productive hours, to finish laundry, clean the kitchen, work on cleaning my bedroom, changing my sheets, changing George’s sheets, cleaning my office, doing some filing, cleaning the bathroom, and cooking dinner.
George had “Bowling with the Brothers” tonight. So I had the night to myself. That helped with the productivity. lol
After church this morning we went to a Mexican Restaurant and ate lunch at Los Compadres. It was really good. We then went and got Mom’s groceries and also got our own. I find it quite taxing trying to work from two separate lists. I had mine on my phone and her’s on a grocery list by aisle. I’d not had time to include my own on the by aisle version, but it’s helpful when I do – to avoid back tracking. I usually put hers at the time and mine at the bottom.
Anyway, we took her the groceries and needed to head back home with ours. She said “did you not bring me a hamburger?”
Well crap, no. She had asked that we go through a drive thru and get her a burger. I remember her asking us to do that now, but I totally forgot it today. I was mainly in a hurry to get our groceries home as we didn’t have anything on ice it was a hot day. So didn’t remember to stop and get a burger. I guess we could have bought some ice and put things in a cooler and then had time to stop, but she wasn’t upset thank goodness. But she did call us out on it. lol
She had called us this morning (sounded like she just woke up) and said she didn’t feel like going. She seemed fine when we got there and she said she just feels bad when she first gets up.
But after we got home I had some quiet time and then got up and got a lot of my list done, focusing on the most tiring things first. Then I was able to KEEP GOING .
Milestones Met
Well, I made it over 500 subscribers today. I’m quite amazed. I originally set June as the month, but moved it to May when I thought it might be possible. I missed May by a few days. It’s ok. There is no race. No real reason for a deadline.

I’m just beyond excited. I have really made this just a personal thing for me with my own timing. I mean I think b/w 62 and 65 or maybe 67, I’m not sure when I’m eligible for Medicare yet. But I can only make so much money from the ads. So I think we are good. lol.
At 500 I can “become a YouTube Partner and start my earning journey”. I can create a “fan club” of Memberships that pay monthly for “perks”. I’m NOT doing this by the way. I barely have time to create content for the main channel, but much less for a separate private membership spot. A lot of creators do it eventually and have a Patreon account. But I don’t have enough quality content or specialty content for that. There may come a day but it’s laughable right now. I can also allow Supers. I think that is like through Chats during live where people can throw $ at you while you are live. I’m not doing that either – at least not now. I would not have enough people to show up for a live event and no reason to have one yet, lol.
But at 1,000 I can earn money from the ads that show up on the page. So I will allow that as it will supplement our income. And while that is not the real reason I’m doing this, it is something that I’ve known I would allow when I had enough followers.
When I retire I can focus so much more on content and can have time to continue to make improvements. Right now I’m just enjoying it and doing the best I can. I am looking forward to cooking more, thrifting more, and the channel is going to be a lot more fun when I’m not leaving the house at 6 something and getting back at 5 something.
Bedtime and Cicadas
George is back and it’s almost time to head to bed. Dexter and Maddie say “hello” to you! And the Cicadas are HERE! My light is on and they keep hitting the windows of my office. I was thinking it was a person messing with me til I realized what was happening. lol. I think they are NEW at flying and they see my light and then crash into the window, lol.
Nite Nite
