St. Patrick’s Day, Spring, Storms, and Little Roo

Kind of a strange little day yesterday. I wanted it to be a good day. I mean it was St Patrick’s day after all and we had a great meal planned and even bought special beer for the evening. However, the weather was a threat, all day long. Not just rain but possibility of storms and severe storms at that. This was a messy little system. But I know there were tornadoes to our south.

I even had a small window of time to walk to the mail box to take our overnight package in the office complex. I always look forward to this little walk outside, even if it is a little one. The skies let up for a pretty minute so I can run the envelopes out and I took the camera because the Bradford Pears are blooming. I think that is what these are. They are most beautiful on a sunny day against a blue sky and green grass. But this will have to do.

The blooms don’t last long. It’s always around March 17th and you can see from the pic below that the leaves come out quickly and replace the blooms. I love this time of year when the blooms come out. It’s always so beautiful when the rains come and warmer temps arrive, and the blooms follow, and the grass turns a beautiful green. As green as our St Patty’s day wear!

God answered our prayers here to limiting it to mainly a rain event. I really did not see any high winds. There was lightning but the storms were calmed and he answered our prayers. There was not an overnight event here, just rain and flash flood warnings. We live in a hilly little area over here and are higher ground at our house and the water runs down. But I was able to sleep all night.

We face timed with our friends, Don and Lisa, at happy hour. It was a fun time and we caught up a bit.

How ’bout some cuteness that has been showing up in our social media! Little Roo! There is nothing in the world that melts my heart like that smile. Oh it makes me break out into a big smile!

The lighting here makes him look yellow, but he is not yellow! Here is his little St Patty’s outfit.

Can’t you just see him kicking and so forth? Do you know HOW BADLY I want to hold this little fellow and hug and squeeze him and talk to him and make him smile. He needs to smile at his Nonni!

Here was dinner….our corned beef and cabbage and carrots and turnips. It was so good! It’s so funny. I cleaned the counter up for the shot so no crumbs will be in the background and then George picked up flakes of red pepper and “flew” it over our plates and there was pepper flakes landing all over the counter, messing up my pretty shot. Oh well. We always counter each other’s productivity! lol

So today is my Friday! I’m off tomorrow. I have a lot I need to get done today if I can. It will make Monday easier. I think I may eat out today. Not sure. But I’m kinda ready to do something other than eat on the fly in the break room. Eww that sounded bad.

Anyway, top of the morning to ya! Be back soon – when have something to tell! lol.

Happy Camper: Spring Coming, Pedicure Done, File Transfer Project Complete

March is here, says my calendar! And now we have the hope of spring, and we have daffodils blooming around in places and the trees are thinking about sprouting leaves as they are in “bud swell” and the grass is getting greener from the recent rains. We start our thinking now toward St. Patrick’s Day and all things Irish and green!

With Spring coming, so is flip flop weather! I am likely going to allow my self a new flip flop or two this season as I’m overdue! I’m over the Yellowbox’s making my feet black at days end! And I was most certainly over doing my own feet which was just painting my toenails during the pandemic and the winter. But I saved a few bucks and spent that on camera equipment and geeky software like Canva, Tube Buddy and Epidemic Sound.

The feet felt so good going into the hot water. And the back massage machine is a favorite and has me spoiled.

Is Getting a Manicure or Pedicure Safe?

Plexiglass drop downs are in front of each seat. The lady working on my feet, had a mask and shield. I had on a mask. I was required to sanitize before entering the salon. My temp was taken. And I was immediately seated and the only one I might add that was getting a pedi! But the nail station was full. I also got my own nails done – a spa manicure and just a translucent shine. I really loved the French manicure but just don’t want to go back into that. I need to be able to do my own nails some in between visits and not have to be subject to going every 3 weeks. I’m not ready to commit to that, but I’m ok with getting nails done on occasion. Both were only $45 yesterday as a combo deal but then I leave her a good tip. So that has to be considered into the cost. But for both, and considering the winter’s neglect to my feet and the hand sanitizer drying up my hands, the pampering was worth it. And yes, it was so safe it was probably overkill. I mean all that was left was sanitary clothing suits, lol. No we didn’t wear those, lol.

I picked the prettiest cheerful pink. It was perfect to start out the spring with.

George’s Lamb Chops and Home Made Veggie Soup

Roasted Lamb

Lamb Chops

Beef and Vegetable Soup with Macaroni

WE love lamb and he gave me several lamb cuts for Christmas. We had these over the weekend. I forgot to post it yesterday! I told him we should have this OFTEN. And I love his mint sauce! Well it’s a little pricey for having it too often, but not bad considering what that would be if we ordered it in a restaurant. I think our meal at home was about $10 piece for a weekend meal. Oh gosh it was good. I believe this was Sunday night’s meal. It was heavenly. And now I’m in the mood for a good ham. I think we are having corned beef for St. Patricks. Yum! But I’ll be on the lookout for a good Easter Ham!

Purchasing Extra Apple iCloud Space

Oh. My. Word. So I ended up NOT having enough space to do what I wanted to do and at the end of the day 48 hour battle, so I ended up just going ahead and paying $9.99 for a ton bucket load of space with Apple iCloud. But am I upset about it. No, not at all! Several things made me go ahead and buy the extra space:

1) I am tired of fighting the file battle to get everything where I wanted it to be. My Will is huge and I wanted the not yet created movie and pic files to be on the cloud. Period! And well there’s always going to be a huge “front log” of stuff I’ve not worked on yet that I don’t want to lose. I made my decisions on how I was going to be organized and quite simply I just wanted it to be that way! I didn’t want to change stream (AGAIN) mid way through the project of setting up and organizing files. I was not going to spend another 48 hours moving it all back off the cloud. I want it where I want it! Period. (It took 48 hours b/c I really didn’t know it was stuck b/c of the cloud space – I thought it was just slow, lol).

2) George wants to use the iMac to do some Garage Band work and that will be on the Cloud and those files are big too.

3) You really do get a lot of storage for the $. And for what I’m wanting to do $9.99 ain’t bad!

4) Now I can just have my Canon Camera automatically transfer to my Apple photos and then I’m dealing with only one stream of photos to “move into other files” for video creation. Not having to merge from two sources, b/c I have the space to do that now. Less time consuming and less worrisome.

Whew! This all takes some organization and thought. But it was my goal to improve, to be able to continue to do these videos, to be set up so I can get on a schedule, plan ahead, and be a well oiled machine, and I just needed to organize myself with all this. It’s been quite the learning curve of how to handle the files. Then making the decisions on how to organize it – as there were numerous options. Getting the iMac updated and secured with backup, and so forth took some research, thought and planning. But I’m over the curve and ready to go! So excited! And George is wanting to do the Garage Band and likely have some music for the videos! I love it and I love his support!

So bottom line – my photo files are on the Mac itself with a back up drive. If we have a fire it is gone as they are both in my office here. But like I have said before, the most important of these are all over social media and blogs as I share this stuff every day. So it’s available if I really needed it. Might would have to search for it but I think all in all, it would make it less painful knowing those files are still out there if I really needed them. And the video/photo media for future videos is on the Cloud.

So backing up – for about $20 per month I get a huge storage in the cloud and any song I want with iTunes – yes I bit that part of the apple some time ago. Access to any song at just about any time. I was spending that much in gift cards to keep putting music on the iPod. Speaking of iPod, why did I say that? It’s really on my phone, into my iTunes account. I rarely use my iPod anymore. I saw it not long ago and asked myself, “what is that?” —oh it’s my iPod – wow I forgot about it. lol Since it’s in the cloud I don’t need a separate device. I don’t have to worry about space. I just stream it. I also have the AT&T account where there is no cap on the service. So I don’t worry about that either. I’m not sure we need that, but we have it and we don’t worry about it. And now I’ve bored most of you to death!

I’m so happy the files are where they need to be. I’d have rather not put any more monthly money toward my habits but – it’s cheaper than golf or guitars? lol

I am NOW READY to create the new Intro when I get some time! And we’ll be on to making the next video and being on a schedule from there. Whew, what a process!

And now I’m a happy girl! But off to do payroll today. And then dinner with a friend/neighbor tonight! Excited to get out some in the world and to have a few things on the calendar. George and I even talked about taking a few vacation days and also considered the possibilities of the next Texas trip. But it’s too soon for that. But we do have our sights set on a log cabin long weekend some time this year! Gotta go!

The Last Two Days in Screen Shots

As seen on Instagram, LOL.

I thought I’d pop in and give an update. Just a busy week. Working most all week at work this week. I was asked to delay payroll and now our server is down. If I had been able to start on Monday I wouldn’t be having to worry about it – but there is one plant that is not done. Our server went down about 3. Everything we try to do these days takes about 25 to 50% longer to accomplish. It’s hard to get anything done. It’s hard going back and forth from work and home but I am managing it. I just have to make sure I have the right files, the computer, and everything I need. No ability to print or scan slows the process. I may have to work longer days at the office and shorter days at home to be more efficient. I have no idea. I’m just trying to make it work but I’m not getting time to work on taxes much and month end and quarter end because of the time everything else is taking. Something will have to give eventually.

George’s company is off Friday for Good Friday. I’m not sure why our company is not, being that so many of them are Christians and so were the original founders, and most manufacturing DO have the day. However, it is not a holiday for us so every year I have to decide if I’m working or taking off. I’d love to claim that Saturday back that I did payroll back a couple of weeks ago and have the day off. But being that I am behind in the month, I feel like I shouldn’t take the day. I’ll be home though and I suppose I’ll work on the tax returns. So, I believe I will not take off. That usually has happened where I feel guilty not to take off. And seems to happen always around any holiday where most people take vacation time. It ends up being hard to take. But it needs to be taken sometime and I’ll have to figure it out I suppose.

A minister I listened to Sunday had pointed out this in scripture in John 16. Depending on the version you use you may or may not see the word “Home”. This was in a sermon about finding and having Peace to go along with your faith. It meant a great deal to me to kind of “heal” me from the last couple of stressful weeks where I was kinda traumatized having let someone’s anger and rudeness hurt my soul and my psyche. Being that I analyze everything and try to figure out what it was I did wrong. It makes me cringe every day – feeling like I need to look at everything from every angle and walk on egg shells as not to cause anyone to stir over something I didn’t do, didn’t know to do, didn’t think about, didn’t know about. I’ve finally just turned it over to God of course and said you handle it, and started the forgiveness process as God says to do. And not to judge one another so, this message about “Peace” is not only about this COVID mess we are in but as a follow up to remember that if God is with you no one can be against you. And we always say, “Don’t let anyone rob you of your Joy”. Well, don’t let them rob you of your “Peace”.

As if my daughter reads my mind (most likely my blog, lol) she sent me this from her devo. I laid down last night and pondered it. It does make for peaceful sleep when you can talk out your feelings to God and take use of the messages He sends you during the day, whether it be directly from His word, or thru someone else. I appreciated my daughter looking out for me and the sending of scripture in a text was a “great gift” to me – like a little golden nugget and treasure and it gave me great joy as I went to sleep.

I hope you read that in it’s completion and not just the underlines. The words “Seek my Face” during turbulent times – really resinated with me. How beautiful is that? My daughter knows I have a “high will of my own”. And most days “my will” gets tangled up with someone elses sand sometimes against God’s I’m sure. And probably in the way that I get busy doing other things and not what He would prefer. So when things go sideways which in this world is nearly every 5 minutes, I will try to remember that He says to “Seek His face” for what is happening and where to go from here.

I went for a walk on Sunday and it was really nice. The weekend was truly beautiful and peaceful for us and joyous and happy. It’s been a while since I truly kicked back and relaxed w/o so much anxiety. And even with the diverticulitis thing going on (mild case) I was good. Here’s some pic from my walk in our neighborhood.

The grass is “spring green” and the leaves are popping out on the trees, things are blooming. And there is my house right there in the curve (garage open as George was working).

Some blooms at the house. George has done a great job making the winter yard transition into a beautifully groomed “spring yard”.

And looking back to the woods behind us. Love seeing the leaves come back!

And LOOK ya’ll the Corona Virus is dying out! I found lots of COVID-19 dead viruses in the back yard.

Want to see some interesting shots from the Nashville Web Cams. No one on the streets over the weekend. However, there has been a lot of traffic in the last couple of days. I’m thinking that lots more folks are going to work or finding other work or something. But I did a snapshot of these over the weekend on my camera. I didn’t crop so it’s got the black bars.

And we have over a 100 cases in our county now. Here are the details. It really jumped up. By the way, this is on the Weather Channel app. They have a Corona update map for your area.

The graph really tells a story there.

And I was happy to see the queen’s message this week. It’s interesting having watched “The Crown”. We are on the last season now on Netflix. Oh my gosh it is so good. We are also watching Ozark. And it’s like Breaking Bad – maybe even better.

And I ave a screen shot of my daughter’s dog looking at the Long Horn cows. Cody and Katy took a drive out on the ranch. I hope she doesn’t mind my screen shots. I miss Fin Fin.

And here’s a little goody for you. It might need tweaking a bit. But George made this dip for us since I’m out of my hummus. I found some black beans in the cabinet. I like a good bean dip or hummus dip. I had a snack of this with some crackers (don’t have tortilla chips). Really good.

And I’ll leave you with a pic from our office complex at work. Love the tulips! And I’m off to try to get this last payroll closed. My boss says it’ll be interesting but he has a way he thinks we can get it done through a hot spot. Nothing is ever easy! Full moon, COVID-19, server down, and severe storms on the way! I suppose we should be looking for alligators and tigers in the parking lot and earthquakes and fires and what else? I guess we’ll see what happens. I am not quite sure any of us was be surprised at this point. I heard one guy say that he wouldn’t be surprised if a rhinoceros bursted out from the tree line back behind him. He believes anything now. lol True that!
