Spend the Day with Me and a Big Leak in the Basement

Spend the Day with me. Share a week end day in my life. See my morning routine with Maddie dog. And we’ll quickly supervise George as he finishes up the curtain project. A few things happen unexpected, but all is well that ends well. The final curtain project is revealed and I like what I see. You can watch it HERE.

It’s been quite the stressful week for George as he has dealt with the leak you hear us talking about in the video. It’s been a week now and it’s still not fixed. George thought it was a leak, then the roof. No one would come to fix the roof so he fixed it himself what he thought was doing it. Turns out it wasn’t the roof after all, as the leak was still happening. (I tried telling him that. I was never buying that it was the roof, as it didn’t make sense). He tore down the ceiling at the leak and it’s a copper pipe under the fridge.

ServePro no showed for the 10 a.m. appointment. The insurance people wouldn’t call us back. George cancelled everyone. Do you cancel no shows? I had to laugh. Maybe they show eventually, or on some kind of island time. Anyway, everyone was cancelled and he called our plumber who can’t come out until sometime next week. And he said he would replace the ceiling.

Morale is Sinking Amidst the Leak

I immediately went into panic anxiety mode. Whenever ANYTHING is left up to us to fix it, it either doesn’t get fixed or takes years. There is also already a hole down in that ceiling that has been there since the leak we had on the day we moved in. I was promised then it was going to be fixed ASAP. I supposed that was some kind of sign.

And we’ve had leak problems ever since. And recently replaced most of the plumbing. But cosmetically the basement ceiling is a complete disaster. George does not know how to replace a ceiling and likely won’t want to pay for it. I was thinking insurance would cover it? Is that not what insurance is for? We also have some work upstairs that needs to be done that I’ve been waiting on for a while. I need an electrician to install a new living room fan. We need a new oven and stove unit.

Honestly ya’ll, I’m just ready to move at this point. Then I came upstairs and George had moved a bunch of guitars upstairs in the living room and it looks like it is becoming a band room. My morale tanked even further.

Meanwhile……the water is shut off. What morale was left leaked out at that news. We can only use it sparingly. Yes we can take a shower. But I have to ask permission so he can go shut the water on.

Yes. Morale here is low. Very low. George is also frustrated and then frustrated also that I’m frustrated too.

For the first time ever, I dreaded coming home from work. I’m glad it is the weekend, but this is depressing. I have to trust that God will help us out here. I prayed about it for a week that it would quickly be handled and go well. I’m not sure why God is taking us on an adventure loop, or testing us, or what. Or maybe He just thinks I’m evil and my prayers aren’t worth answering. I don’t know what He is thinking or doing, but I’m trying to trust that He will handle it all. Right now we are just both extremely frustrated. And I have no idea how I’m supposed to do laundry and that realization makes me want to move out complete right now. I’m tired of what all we have been through this year with our plumbing.

Thanks guys! And stay tuned. I’m filming today and hopefully it will get my mind off this disaster that we cannot seem to get any help with.

What a great blog that was this week. Thank you for sharing last Saturday with us…I do like your new curtains and the nets look so lovely. George is so good to get them hung and to help clean the windows. I can never imagine my Dad doing that !! Glad the Seniors Valentine dinner went so well…(.only thing missing was seeing you dressed in your finery …). ,!! Something went through my mind as I was watching Dexter at day care enjoying himself. What does Maddie do when he is away I know now George is home she isn’t on her own but before that was she quite happy on her own ?…..I just love the start of the vlog where you share the lovely dear with us. I know I’ve said that before but I’m real envious of the lovely area around your house. Praying that by now you will have got the water situation sorted out. Poor George he must get so frustrated if he can’t repair things himself…..well I will end by saying. Night night. God Bless ❤️❤️

Thanks for sharing Sybil. Yeah Maddie is quite taken with George while he is at home. She often ops for his lap at night too leaving me a bit jealous lol. But she always comes to me at bedtime. She does fine on her own and catches up on sleep. Morale will improve in the coming days!

Good luck on getting the leak repaired. We too had a bit of bad luck. Our dryer died. So we had to buy a new one.
Your sheers really look great with the curtains. It’s good that George is handy around the house.
