Uncle Julio’s, Salty Dog, Fixing Leaks

We had a nice dinner at Uncle Julio’s with my sister and her family. If you know, you know, this is wonderful that my Mom and my sister and me can have a meal together again. I’m grateful that my sister agreed to meet again. We met at Thanksgiving and also Saturday in Brentwood, which is about half way.

We ordered the guacamole at the table which was so good and creamy. It’s the nicest Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to I think. And the fajitas were the best I’ve ever had. They were so good and uniquely grilled and larger pieces meat as well. So good. Forgive me if I’ve posted this info twice. I don’t think I did. I don’t think I’ve posted much since we went.

Since we went out Saturday night and it was viciously cold, Mom decided to stay in on Sunday and not get back out in the cold and wind. Despite our efforts to keep her warm we still had to walk a bit as the handicap spots were far away from the building (no parking up close) and the lobby while waiting was actually in the foyer which was cold with people coming in and out. So we were ALL ready to be warm but Mom declined church and it was just us. We still went and got her mail and groceries.

Since we ate out the night before, we didn’t really want a big “eat out” for lunch. George suggested Publix because they have something for everyone and an upstairs to sit and eat it. I really didn’t want any meat for some reason and the veggie plate was $4.99. So I know it’s a lot of starches but I had this. It was really good and hit the spot. That was a corn bread there on the left. It was good too.

I’m trying to slow down but it’s not working. lol. It’s fun thinking about it though. Fun thinking about retirement.

Leaks are Us

The leak is fixed and George put the house back upstairs (things back under the sink, fridge scooted back in). The bad news is THERE IS NOW ANOTHER LEAK. It’s the washing machine area AGAIN. So yes, I’m very disappointed. Disgusted actually. George is trying to fix it with unclogging solutions, and if not will have to have the plumber back out. He’s coming back out anyway as George also has a slow leak in his bathroom that the plumber is getting the part for. The plumber is Cody’s brother, BTW. (My daughter’s hubby). I asked him if it was weird coming to a house and seeing his brother’s pic on the fridge. lol. He laughed and say “yeah”. The Butler boys are nice fellows! All of them.

Anyway, as far as doing laundry, I was one load short of being able to finish because we saw the water under the washer. I wonder if it was a fluke or something because of the water being off and on so many times and having air in the pipes some – disturbing the flow, but I don’t know.

After the first leak was fixed that was causing havoc in our household, it was a relief though because we could at least leave the water on, wash dishes, run dishwasher, take showers without George having to keep an eye on the leak and pour out the water for the next load. Our frustrations had leveled out at that point.

Honey Won’t You Be My Salty Dog

George fixed us a “salty dog” Sunday night. Mainly because I had asked what a “salty dog” was after they played “Honey won’t you be my salty dog” at the church Valentine event. Much to my surprise, it had much more of a sexual content meaning that I had imagined according to the internet’s definition. But I don’t think the general population thinks a whole lot of it in that way – more like “honey won’t you be my honey bun” lol. It’s such a popular bluegrass song. No one would think bad of it being played at a church event. I didn’t.

But, the reason I’m bringing this up is that while George was googling it he saw a cocktail drink called the “salty dog”. And he fixed us one (or two). It’s grapefruit juice and vodka I think. It may have other things in it too but I think that was about it. He had salt/sugar mix on the rim. They were really good and made our evening a bit more joyful and helped us let go of the stress a little bit. It was saying “cheers” to the fact that we’d had a rough time lately but we were still hanging on and about to get it all fixed as the plumber was coming to the rescue. Last week was a long scenario with just a lot going on surrounding this leak. George thought it was the roof and so on. A lot of people involved and nothing getting done in over a week’s time. Until he called Greyson, our plumber. And now today he’s calling the restoration people to fix the basement damage.

Nashville’s Cumberland River Roller Coaster

It’s quite illegal to ride it. lol. But I believe Katy got him a t’shirt that says “I rode the Nashville’s Cumberland River Roller Coaster” . He wears it in the upcoming video that you will see on Saturday if you watch it. It’s not really a roller coaster. It’s just art that looks like one. It’s officially called the “Ghost Ballet”. I’m not sure what the story is behind it but Nashvillian’s know it as the Roller Coaster statue thing. lol. And George’s shirt says he rode it. Which is hilarious.

I was able to find a pic on Canva of it for my upcoming video so there’s no copyright violations.

Losing Maddie

George couldn’t find her. He knew she was inside, but kept looking and looking and finally found her when she peeked out.

So I need to get off of here and get ready for work.

Pain in my Side, Hip, and Back

I’m not feeling well. I have a pain in my right side. I don’t think it’s appendicitis and don’t even think it is diverticulitis. No signs of either. It kinda feels like a muscle thing but I have no idea. It mainly just hurts to walk when I put my right foot down. It hurts on my right abdomen, right hip, and even in the back. Could be a kidney thing too. I have no idea as the only symptoms are it’s sore and it hurts to walk. Of course I’m walking to get done what I need to do and get where I need to go but it hurts. I’m taking Tylenol to get through. I guess we see if it gets better or gets worse. If worse we’ll head to the doc. Other than that I feel fine. Tummy ok, feel ok, eating fine, all systems are fine. So I don’t know.

Year End Processing

Almost finished entering the final 163 w-2’s for Oklahoma. That is all that is left. I saved the best for last, lol. I’ve entered 28 or so and have the rest to enter. Probably will finish this week. But I had to stop to close payroll. QE and YE has to be “worked in” to the already busy week. Anyway, when this is done, I’m done.

When I blog I’m late to work because I really don’t have time to do it. So I better close this off and rush off. From the looks of my photos that is about all I have to share. Other than that it’s work, check on Mom, video edit, have a few minutes with George and crash and start the day over again – ditto.

Well, ya’ll have a great day. How’s your week going?

Hi Sonya, First glad that the plumber has got things sorted…almost….hopefully when he comes back you will be sorted properly..it will be such a relief. I can join you in your worries today as Yesterday I discovered a leak from my Combi Gas Boiler this hears the water and the radiators. I have thought for a while something was not working properly..anyway called the company I use and they sent a lad out who discovered what it was and turned off the cold water inlet till he could get spare parts. It means I have no hot water…thankfully the central heating is working, I’ve no idea how it all works….but it does. Anyway as the boiler is fairly old they can’t get the spare parts so I have to have a new combi gas boiler at a cost of £2,500. About $3,500. I think….It never stops does it. Just hope after Sunday all will be good…. Looking forward to Saturday’s
    VLOG. take care. God Bless

Oh wow. Yeah it’s always something. Always. I wish things would just be calm, and work, and we’d be pain free too. God is trying to show me to be patient in any circumstance- of course we spin our wheels on trying to fix things and progress. Anyway week half way over.

Those leaks are a pain. My daughter just had a pipe removed because a big tree root grew into it. I was shocked how big the root was. It caused her basement bathroom to flood. They had to dig up their nice lawn to get to it. Irs good you have someone you trust to fix things for you.
Your mexican dinner sounds good. I am glad you got to spend time with family. Always makes dinner better when you are with those you love.

It makes my day when I hear from you...
