Mid-Week Update, Mom Issues, and a Sneak Peek

Hey everyone! I thought I’d drop a blog post this morning. Just felt like blogging. I miss my morning blog. I’m trying to do some things “just for me” here and there early in the day instead of just “going with the grind” of knocking out my to do list. I’m somewhat of a rebel I suppose – I want to be doing something different than what I have set out for myself to do which is all the responsible stuff. I usually do all the responsible stuff first.
This Saturday the Office Makeover goes live. I couldn’t wait though to post a pic. So those who read the blog get a partial surprise reveal. I’m in love with the colors and the pictures and the new feel and the new layout. We started trying to do this in April. Can you believe that? The year took us through a lot with Mom and my projects were put on hold. It’s always something. This week it was Covid. It never ends.
But finally it was done and I can work for me and for her in a pretty space.
Guess who is calling now? Mom. She called in a panic. Her new recliner chair will not work, something is wrong. And she is calling me to fix it? I told her I was in my pajamas and not getting out yet but that her maintenance guy there should be called, not me. But she is quarantined to the room so she can’t walk down the hall to ask for him and doesn’t do well calling anyone other than ME who is on speed dial!!!! (Note to self, program the assisted living in on her phone on speed dial too lol.)
I called assisted living and asked that they check on it. It is probably that she hit a reset button or something and it’s stopped electricity. I cannot get away for a day it seems without some kind of catastrophe – lately it’s lost glasses (yes the new ones). I found them on the floor by her chair. She is getting to where she doesn’t even look. If she did she would have seen them. But I’ll give her that one as she dropped them while she was sick. She probably didn’t even bother to look. It’s just easier to call me. But I’m not making a special trip over when we pay 7,000 a month for help. She asked someone there to help her find them and she said they told her “we don’t help people find glasses”. Wow. That’s a problem if that is true. These simple daily “tragedies” are always part of the elderly living and the help they need help with – not just food, or housecleaning. She also says she is missing pajamas from the laundry room. (Note: I’m still not going to do her laundry). She told me they were her new ones but the new ones were in the package still as they are fall items. Maybe she meant her new summer pajamas but they were bought last spring and I would not call them new anymore. Each item has her room number on them. Shouldn’t be hard to sort it out.
Anyway, I wasn’t coming here to blog about Mom but to just blog about whatever was on my mind, but firsthand you see, that even my mind does not get to be my own. I’m interrupted a lot and my course of plans change constantly. Something told me to harbor this day with my Do Not Disturb function on my phone so I can finally have a day of peace and rest. I felt in my heart there would be a panic call over something she has declared an emergency. Recliners, sorry, are not an emergency when we pay 7K a month for someone to help with these elderly living issues. Unless there really is something wrong with the recliner itself.
THINGS ON MY LIST TODAY
- Vacuuming
- Testing the smoke alarms
- Chewy dog food order
- Check on Mom’s sunglasses order which are late coming in
- Swap dog bowls for clean one for the dog water
- Finish Title and Description for the video
- Mopping but I’m not sure I’m up for that today. It does make the house smell fresh and clean though. So that’s an incentive.
- Windex all the mirrors in the house. Some need it badly
- Bleach our bathmat in the tub
- Vlog today about this week’s subject matter
- Try on my new shoes from Amazon and make sure they fit
- Order our Target order
- Take supplements
- Check email
- Input my monthly YT analytics
- Transfer the “Buy me a Coffee” money from my LHMC account to our account where people have sent us money for watching the channel. Such a nice gesture considering the time we put in and the very little ad money we get.
- Explore health insurance options through the market place
- Weekly check in on our Christmas buying and see where I need to focus. Probably on ordering clothes for the grands.
- Work on writing projects. No worries, other than blogging today, I’ll not make it this far. But I left it on the list for inspiration.
- What am I cooking this week? I have no idea. I don’t really have time to cook, lol. But I try to give George a break here and there.
- Stage my iPad like I want it where my favorite apps are on the front page
- Update my iPhone apps
Ok, well I better go get some important stuff done b/c you never know what crisis I’ll have to face next whether big or small. Last week it was COVID, plus all the small stuff too. We had appointments, hospital stays, drug store runs, coordinating with assisted living staff, and subsequent follow up appointments to be made. She wants a shelf hung but having to wait on George for that one. She has floor lamps she wants me to order.
So yeah, I’m off to getting something done here so I will be in good shape for the next crisis. I know the Lord rewards us when we give up our life for others, and I’m sure my crown will have a few diamonds, that make up for shortcomings in this life.
Ok, so here I go to get something done. Thanks for popping in, if you did!
