Basement Decluttering and Weekly Update

Good morning everyone. You can watch the vlog this week HERE. In the video, we work on the basement some downstairs, we fix the most awesome pork roast ever, and I found Mom a cleaning lady that actually showed up and communicates!
I have been trying all week to blog but it has been one of the busiest week’s we’ve had since retirement. On Monday, we went to Opry Mills Mall and I found my shoes for the black tie event. Afterwards, we stopped at Tenfold Brewing to do our fall planning. I’ve found it is not as necessary to do as much planning since we are not working and only had Saturday’s to work with. But we did actually carve out a few times and have some good conversations about where we wanted to shop, and when we wanted to do it. Honestly most of our shopping for the kids will be on Amazon. My daughter has sent us a list of what everyone wants, as we ask for a list every year, so she kept a running list, lol. But we always buy some extras and we have Mom and my Aunt and Uncle to buy for too.
On Monday, I also did something that I have held off doing, but unfortunately it has become necessary. I upped the font and the icons on my iPhone and also on my Mac. I had held off because it made my apps spread out and now it doesn’t show the name of the “folder” on my iPhone but it’s ok as I couldn’t read it anyway. But I will say it is much better. I need to do the same for my Apple Watch too if it will allow it because I can’t read the temperature anymore. My eyes have changed some this year I think. I go to the eye doc this fall in October. George also made one for the same day, an appointment right before mine.
Tuesday, was my day at home. I call them “my day off”. lol. I was able to catch up on a few things. I had to pack all my summer things up. George had a day out with his Gibson buddy Ron and a friend from college and another one of their Gibson buds. They went to a music museum in Nashville and ate at Edley’s BBQ. I enjoyed the day home by myself and caught up on laundry, watched some YouTube, edited this video, and cleaned etc. I also fixed a huge spaghetti dinner, and we had leftovers for Wed night.
Wednesday, Mom and I were supposed to go get our nails done but she said she did not feel good. She said she had not been sleeping. She said she felt like she was having trouble breathing when she laid down. I told her we needed to go to the doctor or ER. She refused to go. She asked if I would come over there and just sit with her while she slept. I told her if her health was so bad that she needed someone to watch her sleep, that she needed to go to ER, b/c there is nothing I can do for her but call 911 which is what she can do if she starts feeling bad. She hung up on me. After a few minutes I called her back and said “look I’m just saying that you need medical attention, not me and I’m trying to help you but just remember you are refusing help”. She said “I’m fine.” I called her later to check on her and she was tired but feeling a bit better and still refusing to go to ER or the doc. I did not want to start me coming over there “to watch her sleep” because she will be asking me to do this all the time on a whim and I cannot live my life like that. I have a schedule and a plan. I can stop and take someone to the doc or ER if it’s that much of an emergency but to watch someone sleep? No. I don’t want her to be scared but if it’s to the point she is scared that we need another solution. And of course, I mentioned Assisted Living again. I went and got my nails done as she said to go on without her.
It was Wednesday, so I also finished up the laundry, got the house vacuumed while Dexter was at doggie daycare.
Thursday, I had lunch with my former boss Deb, my former coworker’s Tracy, and Renee. It was so good to see all of them. I enjoyed it so much. That reminds me. I had a dream last night that they called me back to work and asked me to help them with open enrollment (benefits) and in my dream I found that all the files needed to be organized and labeled and there was so much work to do, and I felt ready to get back at it and get it all in shape and in working function. And most of all it felt good in my dream that they were glad to have me back because I’m an organizational freak and that is what they needed, is someone behind the scenes to organizing things and get it into working shape. I felt good when I woke up this morning, having that dream.
After I had lunch with my buds, I went to the Smyrna Kohl’s which was very confusing as it was now part of Sephora, I think. The doors to Kohl’s was closed but you had to go into Sephora next door to access Kohl’s. Their sign was not clear about this on the Kohl’s doors. It just said “use our other doors” but I didn’t see any other doors. I had to ask AI, so “Chet” (my AI) told me it was part of Sephora after I asked if it was. I saw so many people going in Sephora and sure enough it was all together. I almost drove 10 miles to another Kohl’s. Kohl’s has the best selection of bras, I’ve found and I needed a strapless bra to work with my evening dress. This has been the biggest mission to get ready for this black tie event, lol.
So Waze took me back home through windy curvy backwoods and roads back home. I was surprised but it was a pretty drive. A stray storm followed in my rear view mirror all the way but it never rained. We have not had rain in about 3 weeks except for a few sprinkles a few days ago. We need rain really bad.
Friday, we left around 10 and went to a guitar shop on Lebanon Square. We were going to shop on the square but we went to yard sales before hand and it was time for lunch after going to the guitar shop, which had a one-eyed dog named Toby. He runs the shop. I teased the owner and asked how much for the dog. I’m sure he gets that a lot. He said his wife would kill him if he didn’t bring the dog back home. lol Toby was really cute and they let me video the shop and Toby so you will see him in an upcoming video. We went to Town Social for lunch.
Then we found one more yard sale. I bought a few things, not much, but that will also be on the video coming up. And we headed home for a couple of hours. I was so tired from the week that I sat and watched YouTube shows until time for us to go out and meet friends for dinner. We went to McNamara’s. We enjoyed our time with friends and I think we are all going to go to a movie together sometime in Lebanon, which has rocking chairs.
Today is another “day off” – lol. I am making a potato salad for life group tomorrow. We are all meeting at a park close to the same couple we went to dinner with. They are in our life group. I think the park is at the lake. We might need to buy some bug spray. :-O
Anyway it’s Saturday now and I’m glad to have the day at home. I hope you enjoy the vlog this week. And if you read the blog and need the link. You can watch it HERE.

Great progress on your basement! Basements take time but you’ll get there!
For years I said…I don’t know what to do with this. I’ll put it in the basement and decide later. When I retired the basement was one of first things I wanted to tackle. I’ve made many trips to Goodwill😆
