Summer Funk is almost Over and Fall is Coming Ya’ll!

Hello Friends.

We have a fabulous week going on here. I can feel my spirit go from kind of a dead summer funk to a cozy, fall-is-almost-here, kind of vibe. After all school is back in session, we are starting to look ahead and plan for the rest of the year, a few leaves are falling when the winds blow, and a few are turning already even though the heat is still 90 degrees most days. You can just feel the gravity of movement toward fall. And every now and then even on a hot day when a breeze blows, it feels just a little bit cooler than it has been.

The picture above is what is swirling around in my head for color schemes in my office. I can feel the drab grey leaving my bones and this nice jade color (Jade?) setting in. I’ve decided 2026 we will do a makeover in my office that includes the paint job, some new artwork I bought yesterday, and a new layout. That’s quite the challenge for this time of the year so we’ll just view that as a 2026 project. What do you think about the colors? Is it too dark for YouTube lighting? I could go with a lighter shade but really like the background color above.

It’s George’s birthday week. He declared it to be. We went on his outing yesterday that I planned for him. What a fun day. I filmed it so stay tuned. It will go up Saturday August 30.

Part of what we did yesterday was walk thru Costco. We wanted to see if we would like a membership. We already go to BJ’s. George doesn’t want us to be in both, and I guess we probably shouldn’t. BJ’s is 15 min closer to us, but honestly 15 min is no big deal and we pass by Costco a couple of times a week if not more. The result? Yeah looking like we’ll be going to get a membership with Costco as they had more deals – quite a lot more – of things we’d be apt to buy. It was fun to walk through. BJ’s was fun too but honestly they never had much that I wanted to buy but I could have gone wild in Costco – matter of fact it will be dangerous the first time we go. I will be stocking up on a few things for fall and winter. This alone, boosted my mood tenfold.

Mom’s housecleaner has no showed/no called twice. But then she said she called mom and left her a message. Mom said she didn’t get it. So IDK but maybe the housecleaner has the wrong number. And then Mom said she called the lady too, and the lady never got the message so do we have two people that both have the wrong numbers for each other in their phone? It’s either hilarious or pitiful or both. I don’t know what to think at this point but I do have someone’s number that Mom can call and talk to if she wants to try someone else. I might have to do the dialing but I’ll let her do the talking and the dealing. I don’t set up her doings. She has to be involved in that as she has to agree to the terms and price and timing and what they do and all that. Anyway, she needs help and we’ve been praying but IDK maybe God doesn’t want this original one there if we are praying and she still hasn’t been able to make it over or communicate. I am sorry but I can’t make two people communicate. And I don’t want to be the go between. They’ll have to figure out how to contact one another, lol.

Today Mom and I are getting our nails done. I’m about to go over there in about 30 minutes to get her. She says she hasn’t felt good this week. But so far she’s not cancelled so hopefully all is well to go get nails/toes done and to come by the house and go out to eat with George. She is buying our dinner for his birthday. That is nice.

River started football practice and PreK. PreK was last week and football practice started yesterday. And sadly, Trace was jumping on the sofa at daycare and fell and bumped his forehead. The daycare keeper tried to catch him, stop him, as she saw it happening from across the room. But it was too late. So my daughter got a text and she called the doctor and Cody to discuss whether he had a concussion or not. But doc says it sounds fine and he did not show signs of a concussion.

Boys, I guess they are tough. But it’s too scary for this Nonni. I know they will be tough boys growing up ranching, hunting, fishing, and playing football, but I guess that is what makes him “good ole boys” when they grow up. Hard work, hard play, and some awesome parents, and some Nonni and Poppy who love them so much.

Well, I need to hang it up here. I don’t have a lot of time left. Need to gather my things and go get Mom. It’s been a great morning though in retirement. I washed two loads, cleaned up the kitchen, dishwasher reboot, ate some leftovers, got my thumbnail done for this Saturday’s video, a day ahead, did my devotional and also had 23 lessons to grade in WBS (What? – so I’ve adopted less people today as I’m getting too much activity, but what a good problem to have!)
