Overcoming Moods, Planning My Week, Nashville Outing with Friends

Good morning, my fellow peeps! Hope your weekend getting started off well! Sharing my latest vlog post that went live today. You can watch it here. It was a little bit of an off week during the filming of this vlog. But I was able to overcome it and turn it around before I got stuck in it. I refused to wallow in misery and refused to let the devil conquer my mind and keep me from joy. I enjoyed getting the planning done for the following week and of course we always enjoy our time with friends when we can get out and see them.

Update on Life

It’s been a good week so far and a quick one. I’ve been filming a week with me, reviewing my SLEEP scores each day and talking about it along with all things going on here, insurance updates, etc.

We were able to go to the landscaping place and buy some plants. I fixed two planters for the front porch to make the porch look better. Each planter has Zinia, Petunia, and Dichondra. Zinia is in the middle as they will be the tallest. Petunias all around them to fill the pot and one dichondra plant for the spill over vine in each (only one because they were more expensive). It looks great and I’m looking forward to the vine growing over the side (hoping Little Bit in his old age won’t bother it – don’t think he will). I’ve sprayed a peppermint mixture for the front porch also to keep wasps away, have washed the cushions on the front porch to make them brighter and cleaner for summer use. George planted th vincas at the mail box and then planted rosemary in some pots in the front. And bought a few other things. I bought a lavender plant as the last one froze a couple of winters ago when everyone’s bushes froze. We had a really bad winter a couple of years ago.

I’ve also been continuing to work in the sun room doing a double window every day (front and back as the panes come out). They are heavy but I’m able to lift them without help. Gotta love my hand and that cleaning tool AI created. You should have seen the other 3 pictures.

Family Member and I went and got Nails done and ate lunch at CP Between the Lakes, went to Dollar Tree and ended the day with Jeremiah’s tadpole ice cream. I got her the Strawberry Shortcake and I got the Grasshopper, using free coupons from the neighbors. It was my 2nd one this week as George and I went a few days before that after running errands to the landscape place and Lowe’s.

George has been working in the kitchen this week, putting in the new backsplash and getting started on the painting in there. I have moved things out of the way and tried to be the helper. But mostly he just has a rhythm to what he is doing and seems to enjoy it. I’ll gladly help if he needs but mostly stay out of his way and try to help stage the area for him as he moves across the room. Kitchen is a mess but it’s gonna look good. The den is next and will see the most dramatic of changes. (Above pic is not finished but here is what it looks like so far.)

Taco Night Fail...I was so excited (we both were) and we had all the stuff except….for what ever reason we did not have the taco meat. Geez. This seems to be a trend with me. I recently forgot to fix meat in with my spaghetti sauce. Duhh. (I have often fixed it w/o meat so it was easy to do). And I think what happened this time was that I planned the meal a week in advance b/c you know I plan my week every Saturday. And we had meat in the freezer at that time. But I think we used it for something that week and it wasn’t there when I went to use it. :-O. It’s kinda hard to have two cooks in the kitchen as you cross over and use each other’s ingredients. My night is only one night as he is the main cook – because he likes doing it more than me. I say I enjoy it but what happens is that cooking falls right in the middle of my “creativity time” in the afternoon and I’m always having to stop what I’m doing to go cook and switch gears and I’m not very good at that. So when taco night failed, I was kinda glad b/c pizza was in the freezer and easier to cook and I could get back to my regularly schedule project. lol. I’m such a geek. I want to cook but then I’d rather edit videos, or be working on something in my office. lol

Vacuum Fail. I also feel like I am failing at the vacuuming. I always schedule this on Wednesday’s as Dexter is at doggy daycare. But often it has been Wednesday when I plan my outings, mainly based on weather, and kinda like having Monday at home since we are gone Sunday almost all day. So sometimes George does it or neither of us. But I need to try and not plan anything this Wednesday so I can do it. It just scares the living daylights out of Dexter so I hate to traumatize him.

All is else going well. My morning routines are strong! Bible study is the Heaven book by Randy Alcorn and I’m so blessed to have had such good Bible devo reading during retirement. I also think that this reading has been prompted by God through spiritual others. Both books have been FREE to us and encouraged for us to read by other Godly people. So yes. I sign that we must and will read it. And what treasures have been looming inside these books to point out scriptures and study of scriptures in a light I’ve not ever been taught before or led to before. What an eyeopener of a spiritual book season.

I keep overbooking my days. I have “wishes” of things, projects, and various to dos that I long to get done and every morning I prioritize these things over coffee and project what all I might be able to do and pretty much prioritize them so that I meet my responsibilities. Because if my will takes over I’ll be in my office writing or videoing or editing or creating ALL DAY LONG, watching YouTube or reading, or playing a computer game, and I won’t get any real responsibilities done. But I hope I always get to having that free time to do projects and such. Yesterday I ignored my list though and did what I wanted and then felt guilty that I didn’t do the windows or didn’t do much housework. Although I have done a lot of housework on other days of the week as well as laundry. But it’s just me. I might schedule a FREE day once a month in which I don’t follow a protocol but just do what the heart and mind tells me to do on a whim. Might be interesting. Also would be selfish I think. But fun.

Oh well, today is the day I plan for next week. I really enjoy it. It’s a test to see what all I am able to cross off the list. But there’s still so much left from last week I probably won’t add anything else to the current week as I’m still getting over some hurdles from last week.

Exercise Program going well for the first week. I want to give it another week and then I will share and vlog it the third week.

Insurance Update. All is well, my temporary card is in hand. I still don’t have the code to make the payment with – I need the code to be able to log in. Supposedly all that is coming in the mail. Should receive it any day now. I have 45 days to make payment so once I can log in, we will pay it. I’ll be glad when all is settled with this but at least I’m covered and have the info if something were to happen.

OK well, I am going to do a few other things and get my day started. I need to finish vlogging my video on Sleep today. Not sure what next week’s theme will be. I’m not feeling any strong inclinations to film anything. I think the last two weeks of filming every day has made me weary. I ended up with 2 hours of footage for the video I’m editing. It’s been a bear to pare down. lol. I’m still working on it. But need to focus on other things today.

I’m kinda feeling a little overwhelmed to be honest, just that I can’t get as much done in the day as I want. But most days are very productive. Some days I just have to give it all up and do what I really want because it is a fight of my will versus being responsible. And some days I’ve had days where all I did was the responsible stuff and ignored the stuff I wanted and needed to do. So I try to give myself grace when I’m feeling burned out on the grind and just need to read or watch something. But for the most part, I’m happy just being productive in any form.

Gotta go. Life calls. Thank you for being here and if you need the link again for the video it is HERE.

Good Morning, I am catching up on your posts. My daughter and I visited my son and his family in KS for a week. We timed it with the Benton KS 5K trot. I could not do the whole route, but walked a lot each day. Had a wonderful time and a safe trip home.  I love the  back splash chosen for the kitchen. I cannot wait to see the kitchen when completed! I did some work on my roses before leaving for KS. Need to plant some flowers. Seeing your pictures makes me want to head to the nursery for plants, but I had PDT procedure on my face yesterday to treat pre cancerous spots. It is a chemical and intense light process. Very unpleasant. Like having a severe sunburn. I can’t be exposed to sunlight for 48 hours and when I can go outside I must put on a layer of sunscreen and wear a hat.  Being restricted to house gives me time to catch up on all your vlogs and postings.  I understand “being in a funk”. When you can’t put your finger on one thing in particular that is causing it. I think your approach of reading, puzzle and just going with the flow is a good idea. As the saying goes “and this too will pass”.  We are truly blessed and focusing on that is good.  Linda

Hi Sonya, I saw your video yesterday and really enjoyed it. Thank you so much for your time in doing YouTube. You are so much braver and disciplined than I am. I came across your videos since the video you posted announcing that you were going to retire and I\’ve watched all your videos since. You bring me peace and structure and you are so relatable. God bless your family 🙂 Have a wonderful week and I\’ll be looking forward to next Saturday. Hoping you will post one on Wednesdays but totally understand that you need time for other things…
