Home Again After Travel: Eating Better and Projects

Hello everyone. Here’s the “Home Again” Vlog post-vacation and what we have been up to. You can watch it HERE.

Real Time Update

So this week and after all the storms last week (vlog coming soon about that) it’s been a relatively calm week so far. Except for the dentist where I got to crowns. That’s a story in itself. Maybe we just start with that. That was Monday.

I’m getting TWO crowns done at once because they were right next to one another, and why not? Well the drilling continued for an hour – because there were two teeth. I thought it would never end. I had held my mouth open for so long with NO breaks and so my left jaw began to lock up and was beginning to be uncomfortable, if not painful. But at that point they were setting the temporary crown and we could not take a break. Not only that but with the thing they had propping my mouth open, and the assistant with the water/air hoses going in, and the dentist with the drill thing in there. I was overwhelmed, uncomfortable, close to gagging as the equipment was getting back there. Finally as we were nearing the end, they were trying to get pics of the teeth for my record and the insurance company, I thought I heard him say anyway. But the thing that took the pic of my teeth was a big wand like thing the size of a flashlight. He kept saying to open wider but I could not have opened any wider even if I hadn’t had a jaw trying to lock up. Dentist became frustrated which made me kinda panic and think things were NOT in control or going well. Finally we had to break and then he had to coach me (laughing at being coached on how to open my mouth). He said ok I just need about 8 seconds so when I say “go” open your mouth really wide and hold it. Just for 8 seconds as wide as you can go. OMGosh, flashlight nearly crammed down my esophagus, he got it done. I don’t know if all this was normal, or if he was inexperienced or just clumsy with the equipment, but this was the most uncomfortable dental crown experience I have ever had. Maybe it was just me, getting two done at once and the drilling was too long – but that flashlight thing – no. Nothing like that should ever have to be crammed in your mouth. If they want to take pics they need to make smaller tools. Geez. Considering changing dentists because of that alone, not even considering the rest of it. Everyone was nice but geez.

Amazon Favorite Products

I did something yesterday that was FAR DOWN my list. I wanted to be able to share my favorite things with you that I use from Amazon. I order a lot on Amazon and so I wanted to have a showcase of all the things I use. So I signed up to be an Associate. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. But that is not the reason I am doing this. Mainly it’s to share. I wanted to create the product list. So here is my “storefront” so to speak:

I was so proud of myself for doing this. This was to be way down the road, but it’s done.

LinkTree

I also, since I did THAT set up a free LinkTree account to be able to put all my links into one in my bio. After several years in social media, you come to have a LOT of links, lol. Blog, Vlog, Facebook, Instagram, Amazon storefront, X (Twitter), and TikTok. I am not doing anything on the latter two but the accounts are somewhat created in case I ever do. You can see the Link Tree on my Instagram account. I’ve not put LinkTree on anything except Instagram yet. It took a while to do all this yesterday. My normal to do list went out the window. lol. I will work on this over time. But I had to stop to work on videos.

Camera Drama

I had my camera picked out. I have to sign for it. So it was in my “cart” with only 4 left and I had to wait 9 hours to be able to have it delivered on Thursday instead of Wednesday as I had plans. So I waited and checked at 8 hours. There were only 4 left still – one more hour to go to have a Thursday delivery instead of Wednesday. Finally while cooking dinner, I checked again to see if I could order and get a Thursday delivery. But the camera was out of my cart and put on a later list because they were no longer available. :::sigh:::: It was a bundle that had a lot of things with it. So I lost that bundle.

I picked the same camera, different bundle, it was less one item in the bundle but had most everything for a higher price. So I purchased that one. But it could not deliver until Friday. I had plans out of the house Friday but decided to cancel them because of the camera so I’d be here for delivery to sign for it. Dang it. I can’t win for losing. I’m very excited! I hope this one works out because the other one did not do so well in manual or automatic for what I needed. This one is supposed to be a good camera for bloggers that don’t know a lot about photography. I tried to learn but every time I had time, by the time I picked it up again, I’d forgotten what I learned. I kept trying but footage was lousy, hard to work with and my Cannon software was not wanting to work with the Mac anymore and transferring footage was irritating. I just gave up on it. Which is weird because many have vlogged and done well with the Canon EOS M50. Maybe I got a dud, or maybe I just have an aversion to learning that camera. I wanted to learn so desperately but it was not meant to be. I thought about keeping it but honestly just the thought of it gives me trauma. To have wanted it so badly, get it, repeatedly work with it, and just the whole thing flopped and was unsuccessful, while others pressed along with it so beautifully – just makes me feel so stupid and lacking, and feel so deeply bad because George spent a lot of money on buying lenses for it for Christmas one year. So I’m going to sell it. I was in love with it but it failed me and I failed it so we are going to part ways. I never want to see a Canon EOS M50 again, lol. I’m even ok with George taking the money for it if he sells it at McKaye’s.

I am buying the camera with money from YouTube. So there’s no extra expense there. But I’m excited for the new “point and shoot” camera. It still has a few settings. The people that don’t like this camera are the people that WANT to play with manual settings. This camera provides great footage with little effort, self adjusts for varying vlogging lighting situations, and so much more. I’m a little nervous though considering my relationship with the Canon EOS M50. But I have a good feeling about this one. Many vloggers are switching over to this one or the DMJ something or other one, which looks like a great one also but the audio sounds a bit off, like a sports camera or go pro type. It’s good for on the go and getting some drone like shots without having a drone. I think. So that might be another toy at some point in the future but not right now. I need a new iPad before that. lol. Or a Mac laptop. But that is much later.

Painting

The project has started for the spring/summer painting projects. The hallway pics removed and spackling done. The paint will be similar. This color has been a good choice for the house and so we are sticking with the basic theme. We have gone back and forth on the trim work. White has been so fresh, but it’s possible we could go with a khaki color trim or off white and still be able to have the darker wooden doors. But if we go with white trim the doors will look weird being dark. I don’t know, we still have to decide. What do you think? Lighter trim or keep it wooden like that? Whatever is decided, the whole house has to be done that way.

Ok that’s really all I have for now. Me and Family Member going to get pedis and have lunch today. Then maybe find her some capris, which has been an issue. She doesn’t last long when we go out and wants to get back to recliner. She is not sleeping much these days and sounded drowsy when I talked with her yesterday. She blames it on her meds. So I’m not sure but everyone needs sleep to heal. And to be in good moods. So hopefully today goes well. We’ll see how she holds out.

If you made it this far…here’s the link to today’s video. You can watch it HERE.

Have a lovely rest of your week and I’ll see you Saturday, Lord Willing.

Hi Sonya, just had time before my day starts to watch the latest Vlog. It was great. I enjoyed watching it especially the weekly shop. I find when I visited friends abroad that they always show us all the beautiful things around but never actually take us general shopping to supermarkets etc. maybe I’m different but I always like to see what their shops are selling, prices etc etc. so to go shopping with you was great. Also to see how much you buy have to say I was amazed at the amount but think your change of diet certainly will be better for you. I try to use fresh veg most of the times. And use fresh chicken rarely frozen. ( I hadn’t used lemon on it, thanks for that tip ). I do use olive oil and rub the skin with it then coat with garlic grains ot just rub all over with fresh garlic. Yyou look so much better these days I’m happy to see certainly retirement is good for you. Better go it’s almost 7.30am and I like to do a quick tidy before Mary comes over, and this being Thursday is the day I have to be up tho church where I run the Community cafe from 9.30-12.30. I don’t have any helpers this week so I’m hoping it won’t be too busy !! Take care. God Bless

It makes my day when I hear from you...
