Day Tripping in Nashville, TN

Good morning:
The vlog is out there and you can watch it HERE.
Real time updates:
*So….work is going well and the new person is trained. From here, only experience can teach her now and a good memory to remember what we went over. I’m just there on the sidelines like a lump of lard. I knew this was probably not a good idea to be training for this long. It’s not really good for either of us. But it is what they pushed for. So I complied and here we are! I’ve handed the job over and I’m just a backdrop, a third wheel, and sometimes even in the way. It makes me feel useless and I can’t wait til this is all over and I’m not longer in limbo land. On a side note, there is plenty of time for getting personal emails read, doing a bible study, making MORE lists, calling Mom, etc. lol
*The weather..well, warm weather keeps holding on, but I’m freezing in the office, looking for polar bears around the corner. My office mate can’t take the heat nor any smells, so no heat for me but I stand firm on drinking my coffee every morning. No force on earth can take that away from me. It is what it is. Compromise. lol. Tit for Tat. When cold weather comes, I’ll just be more miserable unless the company turns the automatic heat on. As the portable is no longer an option for me.
*It’s November now, there is SOME HOPE, as I have more much needed time off this month and next, and Mom has a MEGA LOAD of doc appointments.
*The FOCUS currently is on getting Christmas presents bough (maybe doing some wrapping), planning for our trip to Texas (dog boarding, what we are taking, what to do at the half way point, what books to take, what to do in TX, etc.)
* Also focusing on all my “first of the month” stuff where I jot down a few things and track a few things. I do a YouTube stat thing, a WBS stats for church, a Social Media tracking update (blog, Insta, FB page), and I do a monthly financial analysis for Mom.
*I’m also focusing on ramping up our pantry for emergency off grid-ness. Whether it be an ice storm, tornado, attack of some sort, or whatever. I spent some time thinking about that this week and developed “a plan” that I think will work for us. I am not sure about vlogging about this, but I probably will. I’m not a doomsday person, but after seeing North Carolina after the floods, remembering what happened in TX after a snow/ice storm and everyone was without power for a week or longer as the whole grid went down; and in knowing what could happen if we have civil unrest here, or attacks on our systems, I do think it’s WISE to be somewhat prepared.
I devised a plan for 4 levels of concern. I only plan to activate Level 1 and eventually up to Level 2. Depending on the barometer of how I feel I’ll consider Level 3 or Level 4 but right now think that feels extreme and would require more storage, lol. I’m not sharing my levels currently as it’s a LOT to type, and it’s all handwritten but I imagine I’ll vlog it at some point. I’m not an expert emergency planner and I need George’s buy in for part of it, I think. Mainly because of the cost. So that is also why I’m doing Level 1 and then up to Level 2, so it doesn’t break the bank but we have a bit on hand and what we need if we have to be off grid for a week, or maybe 2. Level 1 is 1-2 weeks off grid. Level 2 is 2-4, for two people. No I don’t really know what I’m doing, but I’m trying to learn as I want us to take responsibility for being somewhat prepared for at least 1-2 weeks and we’ll then take it from there.
*Mom is more engaged with her neighbors and that is good. She is still dreaming of re-doing curtains, adding a fireplace, changing the way her dining area looks, and so forth. George is still in the process of selling her car. He was supposed to work on it this week but didn’t have time. His retirement days are filled with gym, music, reading, the yard, and a few household projects like gluing down the flooring that is coming up.
So….I’m off to start my Saturday. Going to Walmart to stock up some and then just do laundry and odd end, beginning of the month stuff etc. Have a great weekend.
If you read til the end you can watch the VLOG here without having to scroll back up.

Well I have preparing for a disaster if it happens.
I would like to hear what you are considering regarding if you loose electricity for a long time?
I have been trying to get my husband Bob to check into portable solor. We have a generator but if we run out of gas what happens.
Retirement is around the corner for you!
Take care,

Well after Christmas I’m going to start buying a few things- those emergency wraps for keeping body core thermal temps warm. Also buying an inexpensive solar power charger but it would only power a little. I’m getting one also that would charge cell phones and other devices. We need a generator of some sort. We have a burn barrel out back and lots of wood around. We have the gas grill and a small fire pit and need to consider having a full or extra tank of propane. We have some cast iron skillets.

I enjoy seeing you and George going to Nashville. There seems to be lots to see and do.
I think it is wise to try to be prepared for an emergency. I shop in bulk at Sam’s. I save money when they have their sales. With all that is going on in the world who knows what may happen. I am thinking like you do. Stock up and be prepared.
It won’t be long until you retire. I’m glad the new girl is doing well. You won’t have to work so hard until you retire.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Good to hear from you! I hope all going well! Glad I’m not the only one stocking. I think George thinks I’m worried too much and not sure he is on board with the spending. But I’ve not even been to the store for my things either in 2 weeks. So I bought some things to eat for work and snacks, fruit etc. We spent $230 at Walmart today, mainly on stocking up and probably about 75 on my eating on the go the next two weeks.

Hi Sonya, just before I go to bed I’ve had a chance to watch today’s Vlog. Great as always…you’ve had me in many emotions…sad that work changeover has gone faster than expected..but happy it has, would be nice if you could leave earlier now ? Or you could perhaps go in to work less often ? Take extra days off…bosses can’t do anything can they ? Just sack you LOL.
Then the prob with Mums food mix up. I could just hear the annoyed voice coming out!! How did that work out in the end ? Then you had me in gales of laughter telling me about George and the…sheet…on the bushes, your face was a picture I just laughed and laughed….im glad Maddie is ok again..That was a nice outing that Saturday even if the meal was. bBQ …Well love I’m going now so. God Bless. Take care. Xxx

I’m here til the end unless I’m sacked lol- which they said they wouldn’t do. I’d take a payout though if they paid me til the end. I think. :-O I kinda knew this was coming. But I complied with their wishes and gave notice as they requested. Now we twiddle thumbs.

Hi Sonya, love your videos. I’m in Miami Florida and somewhat prepared for an outage. It’s crazy how complacent one is down here with all the hurricanes. I went thru Hurricane Andrew and we had no power for a week. It was amazing how all the neighbors came together and no one did without. Of course that was a lesson, but still I don’t think I’m prepared to go without electricity for one week. We just had two close calls back to back and I swore I would be more prepared going forward so I’m looking out for your video on the subject. I look forward to your videos on Saturdays because they bring a structure that I crave for, you are teaching me many things. Love you guys and I truly hope we can meet one day! See you in the next one 🙂

I think I’m just now seeing this – this morning. If not it was still in my pending approval comments. I will put on my list to do a video on this. 🙂
