Pics of New Grandson and Hot Springs Stopover

Trace Daniel

Isn’t he just the sweetest? I’ll get to see him today!

We arrived in Hot Springs around lunch time. We went to a favorite spot, the Bathhouse Brewery. We got a flight. And I got a Caesar salad and George got a Reuben sandwich.

We sat outside in the bier garden. A cloudy but 70 degrees and comfy. It was a pleasant experience. One in which I began to “let go” of the tension and stress and everlasting to do lists.

We then went to an antique mall for a quick browse thru. And then checked into hotel suite.

We did Country Inn and Suites. I’ve stayed in them before with good and cozy experiences. But this time the experience was a little off. It met most of our needs but the cardinal of all sins was that the room had no toilet paper. Imagine that surprise!

I had to ask for some later at the front desk. And at least they had tissues in the bathroom! Other wise….. can you say “wash rag?” lol

The curtain had a blood stain on it?

There was no lamp by the sofa til we moved the desk lamp over there. We rented a suite so we had chairs/sofa for reading.

The lamp shade was marked on with a magic marker and torn in spots. The furniture was scuffed as was some of the walls. Despite these flaws it was otherwise clean and the bed was comfy.

The blow dryer in a bag had the wall mount attached so you had to wave that around to get your hair dry.

The sofa farted loudly every time you sat.

But they did have hot coffee and cookies in the lobby. And a less than satisfactory breakfast. Eggs only other than biscuits and gravy and otherwise a continental breakfast. No meat or hash browns but good enough to get us on the road. I had toast and cream cheese along with eggs and OJ and hot tea to go. So better than my usual oatmeal at work.

Anyway we usually have a better experience and it was clear that Country Inn and Suites were not prepared for guests in our room. It actually reminded us and made us talk about hotels in the past that were less than quality lol!

I’ll never stay at another Country Inn and Suites. The reviews were good. But mine won’t be.

The guy at the desk was not surprised that there was no Toilet Paper. There wasn’t even a holder for it! lol

We then ate at McClard’s BBQ, in business since I believe the 1930’s.

The potato salad was my favorite. I prefer pulled pork to chopped and I got sauce in mine and it was a little hot. But it was all very good.

We got blackberry cobbler with ice cream and split it. It was so good.

Then back to hotel to read and crash. I slept solid for 5 hours and catnapped the rest!

I was very exhausted by bedtime. The last 3 days had been very busy and concentrated and stressful and yesterday a travel day! Restful but exciting. I felt so washed out. George said “don’t forget you are still pretty much recovering from surgery where an organ was removed.” True that!

Katy and Cody are home now with the baby. We are in Texarkana now continuing to head West. We will be stopping in Weatherford first groceries too.

Better go. My time to drive!
