More Snow, Burrito Brunch, Laptop Fixes, Dog Cuddles, Doubt Crisis, and Books to Read

We have more snow on the radar heading our way. We have had some big flakes and then small flakes and then big flakes again. We have an advisory out and no mention of any further accumulation. We had some freezing rain yesterday that made our neighborhood streets very icy.
I’m supposed to take Mom for a doc appt and work until then but we’ve decided to just reschedule because it’s dangerous over here and Mom has ice all over her sidewalks so we are not getting her out and I wasn’t driving on ice anyway. So it looks like I’ll just be working from home all day. I texted my boss. She wasn’t sure what to do either. It was snowing big flakes where she lives too. I have enough to keep me busy here I think. I’ll be glad for normalcy come Monday. Temps will be above freezing even at night for several days.
We have a thing with friends tomorrow but I’m not sure how the roads will be fairing. I guess we will wait and see if main roads open. George can usually handle the side roads unless their ice still. For someone that likes routine and schedule, this is fouling me up a bit. I honestly do like change and a bit of a routine shake up, and it’s given me my drive time back, ability to work in pajamas, shower whenever I feel grungy (or not), not wear make up, be fed incredible brunches by George, and get to pet the dogs. Getting my two hours of drive time back from door to door when you consider packing/unpacking and driving, has given me extra time around here.

While I worked I had my old laptop plugged in charging and it was like an old car. It chugged and beeped a bit upon starting and had a message about the date or something. I just let it sputter and recoil and once it warmed and charged a bit, it sprang to life. So off and on in between returns, I’d check on it. All I had to do was redownload AVG, redownload chrome, tried to reset the email but windows edge would not take my aol address, only the google one. So I added AOL to my chrome most used pins as the top. I just had to delete the old websites from Chrome I no longer wanted as pins at the top and added in a few things at the top. I still need to add in Notion, Canva, and Melaleuca. It worked fine. I made sure the blog was added so I’d have that when we went to Texas.

But when I unplugged last night to take to the sofa and order curtains off of Wayfair I looked and had 2 hours of charge. I remembered the battery being a problem. Within a minute it notified me that the battery was about to shut down. Whatttt? By the time I went and retrieved my cord and got back – it had! So that was weird. But I’ll always just make sure I’m plugged in. I’m happy it’s back to working and that will be nice for our travels. I’ll probably still take my iPad though for games. But I really like blogging with a laptop or my desktop computer. Anyway, bottom line, that was a quick check mark off of one of my 2024 goals.

Maddie likes sitting behind me at my work desk for a bit. Until she is ready for a long winter nap and she goes back and gets on her little bed that is on top of my bed.

I put this extra quilt on our bed during the cold snap. Even though the temps are usually around 66 to 68 overnight as we sleep best in coolness while saving on the heat bill, it kinda sends a chill in through that window when things get below freezing.
Maddie has also really taken to this monkey that used to be Roger’s. And actually she likes for you to play with her with it. She likes you to try to take it away so she can wrangle it with you. And if you throw it she will retrieve it and bring it back to you (most of the time). I told her she retrieved better than Dexter who is part retriever. And she just loved to hear that. Dexter snickered over in the next room – it was more of a harrumph. I kid you not. That Dexter is so jealous and even scared of her. He wears his feelings on his head. I have to give him extra love. His Daddy gave him some last night. As Maddie was in my lap, Dexter jumped in George’s.

George had a bad crick in his neck all day and had to take Advil and rotated heat and cold on his neck. I think it was from shoveling the drive way but he could have just slept wrong.

Some deliveries arrived yesterday. I ordered a couple of books after Christmas – used ones – which take a little longer. But it’s ok. I’m not reading them soon anyway. But they came in yesterday and the day before.
George has been reading this book. And he has cleaned nearly everything out of the house. It’s a little scary. I touch on this in my next video that goes up Saturday. I asked him if he was leaving me. His closet and drawers are almost bare. He has made probably 4 trips to Good Will since he’s been off. So I’m going to read this too eventually. I think I’m sticking with my ONE book a month goal that I failed at last year. But I really enjoy reading and it relaxes me.

In the next video Saturday, I discuss the diverticulitis that came back and then discussed some drama I had experienced and I talked about my “doubt” and “questioning God”. Don’t get me wrong. I did NOT lose my faith, but I talked about how I am dealing with things that I wasn’t expecting to deal with so far in 2024. If you get past the first part of the video the rest will be worth it. But I left the first part in because that WAS what I was going through. Anyway that will be out tomorrow at 7 a.m. CST and I’ll post the link here. I got the thumbnail done last night.
Because I questioned God, it scared me, and I did this study last week. I highly recommend it. It had an audio attached from Abide. It was an excellent help. I liked it very much and it helped me understand where I was coming from and that I’m not a bad person and it pointed to scripture and explained God’s love for me and understanding at my questions.

I ordered my new curtains for the living area with the $ that Mom gave me for Christmas and Birthday. I only had to add $7 to it since I wanted panels too. I hope they work together. It’s hard to tell what you are ordering on the internet.
I wanted something with texture. This is soooo blurry – sorry.

I just remembered I forgot to order rods for the panels, lol. Oh well. I will look and see what it needs when they come in and order them later. I want the sheer panels on another rod inside the main curtains. I’ll be glad to get rid of the wine curtains and that will brighten the room up. The walls are cappuccino in color so the beige will brighten the room up and meet my goals. It’s kinda weird buying curtains if you think you might move before long, but I’ve decided to do what I want to the house and if we move, I’ll just move the themes with me. Or it will just improve the look of the house to sell. Most of what I do will be cosmetic and not very expensive. Although we kinda do have a few things that need updating that are a bit pricey. We got behind and can’t get caught up on it.
Well I need to get to work and get my Friday stuff done. I hope you all have a great day and a great weekend. Did the weather impact you where you are?
I’ll be back and post the link to the video tomorrow! See you guys.

I’m really glad you’ve had this week at home Sonya, I’m sure it will have done you good. Looking forward to tomorrow’s Vlog…will be back then. Take Care xx
Lauren.
Marie Kondo had a show at one time. She had great tips and ideas. That’s good it’s helping George get motivated. If you do decide to move to Texas it will be easier.
I have been working at my house one room at a time deep cleaning. I will work a couple hours and then get tired and start hurting then have to rest.
We didn’t have snow but it’s been getting really cold. It will be around 13 degrees in the morning.
I wish they would just put you in the hospital and run some test. And get your painful issues taken care of . You have suffered too long and I can tell it’s really got you down. You need more protein and nourishing foods to get your strength up. Watered down food doesn’t sound too good. Just curious do you still have your apendix? My mils ruptured and they about let her lay up at the hospital and die. They went in to do exploratory surgery before they knew what is was. She was very sick and in hospital for a couple weeks .

So far so good on the diverticulitis. It hasn’t come back yet after the antibiotics. I’m eating more food and nutrition now. I’m avoiding tomatoes and seeds and nuts and lettuce. Not eating much red meat but fish and chicken. Feeling better. If it comes back we definitely have tests.
I do have my appendix. The pain was on the left side though.
