Baby in the Hospital and a Boo Boo for Dexter

Dexter has a little boo boo. 🙁

So we left Hot Springs and headed west. We got a call on the way that Dexter and another dog had played a little hard and Dexter got scratched. They wanted our permission to take him to the vet since he was bleeding a bit. So they got him taken care of and glued up. No stitches, but he got to hang with the ladies in the office. Bless him. I asked about Maddie and they said she was having fun and being good. I’m sure they tell everyone that, but, it made me feel better. I miss them both and the fun in going home will be to get to be with our “pack” again. 😉 His boo boo doesn’t look to bad but it’s good they are taking good care of him.
Once we got to Weatherford, we found Shep’s which is kind of a sports bar but showed up when I searched for a good burger. And a good burger it was. We ended up missing In/Out and had to find an alternative. I’m sorry but it was better than In/Out Burger.

I have been enjoying salads with tomatoes and lettuce and including both of those things on my burgers. So far so good. I totally think that my swollen, inflamed appendix was leaning on my intestines and blocking things. I’ve had no trouble and everything feels better and is easier since appendix has been out. But we are in “trial mode” so we’ll see. But so far so good. I still focus on eating healthy for the most part with lots of fiber, lots of water, fruit, veggies. I included a few nuts yesterday that was on a dessert we had. I’ve splurged more on the vacation of course.

So George got the pizza burger and onion rings which were huge. He said they were the best onion rings he’d ever had. The buns were sour dough and really good. I’d say this was akin to Pharmacy burger by the bun, anyway. But there was a LOT of meat on that burger. But in taste was a lot like Pharmacy Burger in Nashville.
Afterward we headed to HEB which is the “chosen” of grocery stores there. They have a section of prepared foods in the front that people can go in and get and head home with. Katy and George had discussed us bringing some meals home so we did.
However, come to find out, lots of people are bring food over the next few days. There is so much food here at their house from what we brought alone, plus what they had already stocked, so no shortage of food. But you know us. We enjoyed our HEB grocerying. I had bought a few things I could not find in my suitcase – all my hair products. I later found them so I have two sets. Oops. And now we are missing the water we bought at HEB. I could have sworn we had it in the back seat. And thought I took it in the guest house, but I cannot find it anywhere. So I guess we’ll buy more when we go out. I’m drinking Katy and Cody’s bottled water for now (just one a day) til we can get to the store again. Maybe the water will show up like the hair products did. lol

Finally we got here. Later than we thought due to the Shep’s (a little out of the way) and had to back track and do the HEB run. But finally we got to meet Trace.

How awesome, I dressed in green just for him. We made it to Breckenridge, just before the storms started to develop east of us. I mean wow! It started to pop after we were settled. I had prayed the Lord would guide the storms away from us and He did. Thank you, Lord.

He is already alert, and I think he is going to be smart. He already caught a glimpse of his hands and he looked me straight in the eyes. He’s been breastfeeding good, but I don’t think Katy’s milk has come in good. So….at their appt today they decided to keep him due to the jaundice. I was surprised. He was on the borderline but going into the weekend they decided to go ahead and check him in. So Katy gets hospital meals for the time they are there while Trace goes into the bili lights so his jaundice is cleared.
River is getting to be a big boy. He is aware and communicative now with complete sentences usually. And able to lead us as to what to do, lol. Today he reminded us he had to wear his “overnight pull ups” for his nap! We’d forgotten. He took a nap for us and is down for napping as I type this.

We have been doing “the Floor is Lava” on YouTube. I have been getting in my exercising doing the dancing to it, lol. He loves it. You will have to go watch it. When the floor is lava you have to get your feet off the floor b/c the floor is hot lava! lol.
Here is dinner that a friend brought for all of us last night. So sweet. It was enough for all of us. Stuffed baked potatoes. Had chicken in it. We had mac and cheese and salad and coffee cake. And some awesome cheddar biscuits.

Little one sat in his little sleeper seat while we ate. Katy is doing great this 2nd go round. She knows what to do now and is very low key and laid back. It was more stressful last time. She seemed less tired. But she was disappointed they had to go back in the hospital with the baby. I told her to treat it like an adventure and be glad the baby is being taken care of b/c it’s no fun going into the weekend with a jaundiced baby. She and the baby can be pampered for another day. Cody was going to the store and getting necessities for the night and Chipotle for lunch and whatever needed to boost the morale. It’s all ok. We have River and will stay here overnight in their house so River has his bed.

I don’t know what it is about the Mesquite trees that I love, but I just do. I love palm trees too. I suppose I associate the trees with a place, and a good time? But drinking coffee this morning through the windows, I could see the place light up and was drawn outside to this tree. A front came through overnight along with some thunder showers, but nothing severe. And so it was 56 or so this morning. I think it’s about 51 right now. Very cloudy and we had some rain this morning. I think the warm front is pushing back up though and bringing more rain. It’s that time of year. Back and forth.

Our sleep in the guest house was very luxurious and comfortable. The bed felt good. I can’t wait to get a new bed at home. We both need new mattresses so that will happen sooner rather than later. Also a new car is in order. George said to get it now while I’m working so we don’t have to pay cash. We can spread the payments out. He is suggested a new one if I get a Honda SUV but we’ll compare cost of new vs used.
So everyone wants to know how River was with the new baby. Here’s pics! He wanted to know if it’s ok to “pet him”, lol.

Such precious times. Keep everyone in your prayers as Little One recovers from jaundice. And Mom and Dad have yet another hospital stay.
