DeCluttering the Dishes Part II and Life Updates

Well, here we are again with Declutter Part II. You guys seemed to like the first one so we did it again. It’s been fun sharing our experiences as we go through and decide if something gives us joy, continues to serve us, and make the cabinet less decluttered. We have a lot of dishes so the dish series continues. We have been filming the 3rd one, lol. I’ve already been scathed by a commenter this morning saying “didn’t we just do this”? I was laughing thinking honey, that was just one cabinet, lol. But those that don’t like the clean outs can skip the Wednesday vlogs and just head for Saturday, or avoid the channel completely. IF you are ones that enjoy watching, you can watch it HERE.

Other Life Updates

Hmmmm….well, not much to tell. I’ve been busy in the house, busy with YouTube, and we had an excursion yesterday to “the dump” which is really just a recycling center. It’ll be on an upcoming video, of course. We had lunch at a new brewery in the same area. I mean who goes to eat lunch at a brewery at 11:00 on a Monday? Only us apparently. No one else was there. One other couple came in right before we left.

I cooked Monday night. I had marinated chicken tenders and grilled them on the George Foreman. Simple chicken flavored Rice a Roni, which I love as it has both rice and pasta, and we had Allen green beans with the frozen speckled butter beans. Easy no recipe for any. And it was so good. My kind of cooking. lol

George has been having fun with the Ninja Creami and once there was a container empty (we have 3) I wanted to begin experimenting with high protein, low fat ice cream. I found a website that gave me some ideas and George and I emptied the orange sherbet he made and was able to fix the 2nd one. One was with greek yogurt and one without. You can use protein shake mixes too. I didn’t try that yet. I also bought some strawberry low-fat milk to make some strawberry ice cream with. This is really what I bought it for (make my own low fat ice cream) but once we saw how easy it was, oh my gosh, you can make anything in there and we went wild making the good stuff! lol.

The retirement days are going by somewhat fast. I am enjoying each day just immersing myself in things I’ve wanted to immerse myself in. I’m loving doing two videos per week. Loving keeping my house cleaner as I can do things more often instead of spreading it out over 45 Saturdays or less and sharing the Saturdays with other tasks/chores/to dos. Some weekends we had plans so not 52, lol. And I’m loving having more time to read and the ability to stay in bed long enough to obtain 7.5 to 8 hours of sleep instead of 6 or 6.5.

I am shocked when 4 p.m. arrives and 1/3 of my to do list is still undone, but there is an acceptance of that in retirement. Instead of pushing it to the following weekend or the one after that, you simply forward it to the next day.

I still have not hemmed my PJ’s and it was one of the first things I wanted to do. My guess is that I don’t really want to do that, lol. I have things I’ve wanted to do more so it settles at the bottom of the list. But I am getting closer and one day it will happen.

I’ve been able to solve the Final Cut Pro and Mac issues of being slow. Apparently I was editing at 60 FPS while filming in 30 FPS. I guess some years ago I watched separate videos on how to video on iPhone and then watched another on how to edit FCP, but never got the connection. I probably just did what each individual did for their own use and copied that and it didn’t match. So FCP was having to render the heck out of my videos. I have sense learned a few tricks to help while editing. So far so good and I think the latest video was clearer, or maybe it was just my imagination. But it took several days of watching videos on youTube to find “the right two videos” that was able to help me. A combo of both of those set me on the right path. I didn’t have that kind of down time in my work life without losing out on a video schedule. I only had time to edit (if that) – not time to fix things that went wrong. So time is good these days. Much less stress and cramming things in.

When I get back from Texas, I’m likely going to order the new camera. I hate to have spent so much on my Canon to not use it. I’ve not really been able to get good footage from it much after a certain point and I wondered if something happened to it or is wrong with it. For so long I thought it was just me. I don’t want to get rid of it yet. I mean maybe I can work with it again but goodness, it was just so dark and dingy when I tried to use it last. And the battery was melted inside the camera and hard to get out. I don’t recall having it in a hot car. And the footage wouldn’t transfer using the software over bluetooth and I had to get a card reader. I think Canon is not keeping up with the future. Or something happened to the camera. I have no idea.

Anyway I’ll be doing some research but I think I’m going with a Sony with more updated features for Vloggers and easier to use for those that don’t know a lot about photography. I want to learn but this 62 year old needs easy!

Ok over and out. I hope you enjoy the video. If you read the blog and need the link again, here it is.

Ya’ll have a good day. See you Saturday.

It’s amazing how much stuff we have after living in a house for a long time.
Our neighbor died recently and his Son is over there trying to clean it out. He was crying, it’s really hard to get rid of a loved one’s belongings.
I don’t want to do that to my daughter.

Yes, the sentimental stuff is hard while grieving. We have gotten rid of so much. Once the kids get what they want they can hire someone to auction or sell the rest of the belongings right on the property. George and his sister did that and it worked beautifully. But they did have to go through things first so yes, the less is best as it takes less time. It can be a beautiful time though. They enjoyed going through things and found joy and warmth(some laughter and family bonding) in things they found.

It makes my day when I hear from you...
