Loving Retirement Vlog and Blog

Hello friends. I want to apologize for not coming on and doing some daily blog posts. I had thoroughly intended on blogging more. But I have really kept the days full this past month in catching up on all things I’ve wanted and needed to do the past few years.

After being retired for about 6 weeks, I am happy to say I have accomplished much in that time – even with the flu and a 4 week bout of bronchitis. It’s good for me to see the list, to feel good about what has been accomplished and let’s just review it. I’ll share.

Accomplished since retirement:

  • Thrift shopping several times, including GoodWill.
  • Bought some more jeans for retirement.
  • Organized the pantry
  • Took inventory of the freezer
  • Read two books and almost through with two others
  • Experimented with the Ninja Creami (with George) and made ice cream
  • Saw our friends, the Irelands
  • Put up Christmas decor and put all the normal (including spring) decor out
  • A couple of YouTube training sessions
  • A couple of Final Cut Pro training sessions
  • World Bible School Seminar online
  • Reached 5,000 subscribers on YouTube
  • Started doing 2 videos per week on YT (most weeks)
  • Began decluttering and organizing our dishes (filming it – 2 videos in)
  • Cleaned a family member’s counters and deep vacuumed their house
  • Set Up a family member’s laptop and tablet
  • Reorganized the laundry room for functionality
  • Planned and booked our next Texas and Hot Springs trip
  • Learned how to make my Mac run more smoothly and cleared the cache, etc.
  • Organized the greeting cards by “type” for easy access to do my card ministry
  • Began cooking a night a week, plus I often will fix us breakfast or things like guacamole or chicken salad, etc.
  • Exercising 20-30 minutes a day. Working on staying at 30 but I get bored, lol.

My house is also much neater and in better shape now that I am here at home. I’m finding great pleasure in simple things like opening and closing the shades daily, doing laundry over the course of a week instead of cramming it all into Saturday. The household chores are broken down across the month. I vacuum on Wednesday’s as Dexter is at doggie daycare and scared to death of the vacuum. I like being able to do kitchen work each day and help with that and do general “pick up” each day in the house. It’s fun being with the doggies all day. And I am greatly enjoying having more time to vlog, edit, and to do more planning with that.

I AM finding that I easily plan full days and can’t do it all but instead of fretting, I’m ok with it because I’m usually able to get the most important things done, whereas when working, I could not and had to forego important things just to get *some* time for self care and some personal things done.

All that said, you can watch the Loving Retirement video HERE.

Hope you have a great February!
