Reorganizing the Pantry and Utility Room While Sick in a Snow Storm

Well, this was a tough video to do. I was diving into this project and it was a lot more than I had bargained for while still recovering. Mid-video or the likes thereof, finds me in a walk-in clinic. So I hope you enjoy! I finally got it done amid snow scenes, during a major winter storm. You can watch it HERE!

Other Updates

I don’t think there is much to share. But I’ll start typing and we’ll see what comes out, lol. I have spent some time yesterday looking at the specifics of things I want (have wanted) to do with YouTube – in the way of videos and learning/training, and other “to do’s” on my annual list. I began the process of setting up to brain storm. This is the nitty gritty of what I wanted to do in retirement, along with relaxing and other things. So it’s fun to see THAT process start.

I decided to ONLY do ONE video for this next week so that I can work on some of my other goals this week, like starting a puzzle, and hemming those PJ’s I’ve wanted to hem for a long time (2 years), get some reading done, and so forth.

I realize I need to brain storm and PLAN my FEB videos and get some in the pocket so that I don’t miss anything when we go to Texas. It IS TIME to plan and schedule our trip, dogs boarding again, for March. But we are waiting to hear from Katy/Cody as to their plans and dates booked so we can make sure we arrange our dates. We will be baby sitting both boys for a weekend. We are also going to schedule ourselves an extra day in Hot Springs so we can enjoy a spa day at one (or more) of the “hot springs” spas.

(Hey, good job AI, your 50 year olds are looking less like 80 year olds, and you got us looking good!)

I’m feeling better every day, but this stuff (crud) keeps hanging on. Like, I’m NOT WELL, but it truly has gone itty bitty bits of better daily. It’s almost to the point of not having any issues. But then as I say that, I’ll have another rattle in my chest, or need to blow my nose, lol. But it’s certainly better and less of a problem.

Mom had me cancel her Friday eye injection appointment. She was not feeling well with her sinus infection. She’s on antibiotics. I’m sure we probably gave it to her even though we thought we were no longer contagious. The day we set her laptop and table up is probably when.

Thursday I went over and dealt with her counters and ant situation. I cleaned the granite countertops (disinfected them) with a mixture of alcohol and water, which the internet said you could do as you can’t use bleach. I also set out ant traps. But I took everything off the counters. There were 3 sections. And it was a mess. Lots of crumbs everywhere (which is probably why the ants were coming in there). I worked on all that for about two hours. So I was glad to not have to go to Lebanon/Hendersonville Friday but hate she was sick. Instead, I got to go to Good Will with George and buy 2 pair of jeans. They were $8.99. One of the pair still had brand new tags on them. I was glad to find them and didn’t have to spend $40 to $60 on them. So now I have more jeans to get me through the winter months.

We also went to the store yesterday and I tried making an iced cold brew coffee like Starbucks non-dairy creamed salted caramel cold brew. I’m afraid I didn’t quite make it as good. Something is missing, but I will try again. It was good enough though! I drank it down. I used cold brew coffee, non-dairy vanilla flavored “Malk” and a caramel sauce. I think I might add in real vanilla flavor and also some agave as well.

We have been enjoying the Ninja Creamy – maybe a little too much. My favorite is coconut vanilla. But we have made strawberry, and a Brandy Alexander. Oh my. Just a little bowl while watching Netflix after dinner, sets your evening right! 😉 Using the Ninja Creamy machine is very easy. George being the main “chef” at the house has been the one doing the experimenting. We have 3 canisters and we manage to keep them all full. Once one is empty – another goes in the freezer, lol.

We have frigid cold weather coming. I hope we can go to church tomorrow. We have plans to go to church, get Mom’s groceries, pick her up to go get lunch and go to Lowe’s. She didn’t feel like going to church but wants to go eat and go to Lowe’s or Home Depot for a couple of things. It’s supposed to snow but I think just flurries and sticking to the grass only. So we’ll see. We haven’t been to church in weeks due to weather and sickness so I’m hoping we can go tomorrow.

I’ll be honest, I’m kind of getting tired of the cold weather now. It’s mainly because of the sickness and trying to get well and having to go outside with dogs while being sick. I wrap up good but I’m just tired of being a big blimp in a big puffy coat looking like a middle eastern woman with my head wrapped up. No offense to middle eastern women or anything but I’m just ready to not be all wrapped up, ya know? I know I know, in 6 months we’ll be complaining about the heat. We all like our 70’s don’t we?

Oh, I have been enjoying margaritas lately because the other day I had one and seriously it cut through the crud!

And George made the most awesome pizza (homemade crust and all) using a recipe from a world wide known pizza maker. He used the pan Aunt Martha and Uncle Ken gave us. Oh it was so good. He went to extra trouble to precook the pepperoni’s (lower the grease factor), caramelize the onions, and used fresh mushrooms, and the good kind of mozzarella! The crust also had rosemary in it. It was YUM!

OK guys if you need the link again for the video, you can watch it HERE.

I’ll talk to you in a few days. Probably NO WEDNESDAY video this week but George and I are going ahead and doing the video of going through all of our dishes and pans and decluttering. It’s been on the list forever so we will be doing that over the course of several days. It’ll be too much to film in one day. Take care.

I’ve now got the Vlog watched. I’m so pleased that you’ve got a start made on your pantry. I know just how much it’s been getting on your nerves. I’m just sorry it got so bad in the first place ! Let’s hope your new containers won’t just be filled with the same old things and replaced..oh yes, it will look better hidden ! But probably 20/25% could have been taken to the charity shop or downstairs to have a garage sale once the spring weather comes. Could you maybe concentrate on just doing one thing..like your rice you seem to have an awful lot of different and some loose packets all just shoved in any where…concentrate on just rice and finding ALL the packets put them ALL in one container. ONLY RICE. Similar next the packets take them all out and put in one container. I know that’s what you’re trying to do but you get waylaid looking at other things ! So do ONLY the one thing at a time ….thats my tip !!
If I havnt used something for a couple of years…out it goes…I usually have to shut my eyes to do that !but be determined…out they go…not just out of sight………Hope tonight your feeling better and tomorrow you can get to church. The snow looks quite deep so take care on the roads if you do go out. Hope Mum is also a bit better. Take care I’m typing this in bed so I will also say. Night night. God Bless 💤💤😴😴❤️❤️

Great job on the pantry/ utility room. I need to do my cabinets. Usually every 6 months or so I take everything out of cabinets. Take a warm soapy rag and clean the shelves.
Then I check the dates on everything and put back in cabinet.
You have been sick for a long time. I hope the antibiotics helps..
your deer in the snow is so pretty and peaceful looking.
We got some snow but not as much as you guys. It’s going to get very cold here tonight.

It makes my day when I hear from you...
