Slow Recovery from Flu, My To Do List, and Some Good Eats

Notice anything about these sheets? They have sloths on them. Katy gave them to me for Christmas. They are flannel and so cozy. I’ve been enjoying them the last two nights. I changed out of the flu sheets, lol. That is always refreshing.

Speaking of the flu virus, I cleared up with the fever or so I thought, but it came back on Saturday at 100 and then yesterday at almost 100. That’s pretty low, but it was discouraging. The most discouraging thing is that is going in my chest and I wheeze at night. I’m sure I wheeze all the time, but it’s just quiet at night where I can hear it.

I was afraid I was going into pneumonia but in looking up the symptoms I don’t have them. But probably a mild case of bronchitis. The good news (I guess) is that my fever is only present in the afternoon and evening and not present in the a.m. hours which signifies it’s likely that the virus is just still in my system and not the makings of pneumonia. Also I know I’m getting better because: 1) my head is no longer hurting with a sinus headache 2) the congestion is going away in my noise 3) No longer sneezing (well I did once yesterday) but for the most part I’m not having to lug around Kleenex boxes. 4) Runny nose gone too. 5) I’m going longer between coughs and hacks. The improvement is SLOW but I can see it.

I’ve never been a patient person and now that I have been sick for 2 weeks and not felt good is becoming somewhat of a mental downer for me. I’m ready to do more things like: 1) Changing the sheets without it totally wiping me out as George’s needs changing. He offered but you know, it’s a responsibility thing and I want to be able to do it. 2) I want to record my Goals video as it’s already Jan 6, but I don’t want to share my 2025 goals with a raspy “I don’t feel good” voice. I want to be clearheaded, clear-sounding, and excited about my goals and not like “after this flu bug thing I’ll get after it” approach. 3). I want to video our pantry reorg and the laundry room revamp and the Marie Kondo-ing of our dishes videos but for the same reason – just don’t want to be all nasally and choked up. My voice is just not clear right now. It’s very raspy.

So I’m trying to focus on other things. I have plenty to do. So here is today’s list. I’ve already done my devo, made sure the outside cats have water, and taken my shower, cancelled (moved) my dental appointment for this week due to not being well, and did World Bible School in which I had several electronic tests to grade over the website.

<<<OK I lied, I just sneezed again. Fate, has a way of trying to make you a liar.>>

I need to say that “Kerrie” is my sister. I remind myself to check on her not because I’m afraid I’ll forget but because I don’t necessarily have a good since of “time” and a week will pass and I’ll think it’s been only a day or two, so I try to check on her every 3 days or so. I also have a check point reminder for a few friends for the same reason, so that I know a specific time has passed and we need to check in with one another. Usually my friend Lisa I beats me to it. lol I like to check on my friend Kathy P too, if I don’t see her at church. She checked on me yesterday and made my day.

Yeah I have probably overbooked myself, but no worries. I prioritized the day how I wanted it to go so if I don’t get to it, I’ll forward it over like I normally do. I knew it was NOT going to be a videoing day. I’m not up to par for that as mentioned so I keep forwarding forward when I see it pop up.

Our Christmas has been up since the first but I’ve not felt like putting the new decor out. I doubt I’ll get started on it today either but we’ll see how I feel.

George made an amazing breakfast. I’d been wanting blueberry pancakes. Sometime I want to make healthier ones, but we had bisquick mix so I told George just to use that up from where I made sausage balls. It does make good pancakes. He made bacon. It was yummy and we have some leftover so I’ll have it again today.

He gave me the syrup for Christmas. I actually put it in our grocery basket for him to give to me. We do a lot of that as we find things we want while we Christmas shop and grocery shop.

We also got out the Ninja Creami and I made up the strawberry ice cream. Very straight forward and easy. We got the deluxe machine. I’m not sure what the difference is but likely came with 3 pints. So we went ahead and made 3. George made a couple of coconut ice creams with coconut milk and one had lime and ginger in it. And so you have to let it freeze for 24 hours. So at 4 this afternoon we will put them in the Ninja Creami and let it cream it up.

Yes (and sorry) I need to clean out my freezer and scrub. It’s been about two years! It’s on the list! I have a lot to catch up on now that I am retired. But I wanted to show you that you have to put it in a flat spot. It has to be flat and even and not lopsided for the Creami to work. I took the pic before the third one was put in.

I’m going to be anxious to do a regular “vlog style” vlog again as I miss sharing the daily moments. Soon, but I DO want to get the goals and reorg videos done. I have enjoyed a little break from the camera though. It’s actually been a long break except for the “How I feel in retirement video” which will be out soon. I sounded better in that than I do right now.

Ok over and out. I’m rambling. I’m loving being retired but I am truly over being sick and not feeling well. Even though I’m improving, it’s just very slow improvement day to day.

See you soon. I have the 2nd Texas video coming out Wednesday and the post retirement video coming out Saturday.
