Christmas Time Came and Went

So, I’ve been under the weather- but it’s normal for me right? Right at Christmas I always get sick. Mom says I’m allergic to Christmas. I’m starting to believe her. I don’t like red. I don’t like stress. And the thought of Christmas music and Christmas decor makes me remember all the times I’m sick at the holidays. That is so sad, for someone that really loves Christmas. I hope my luck changes soon. It’s getting really old.

I’m feeling somewhat better now but the last few days have been rough. We didn’t cancel Christmas- I didn’t have the heart. Family in town from 2 states. Our big Christmas meal food bought and made. So I stood back and sat away from everyone. I tried to enjoy it despite my need to go get in bed.

I got in bed after everyone left around 2 pm Monday and slept (although fitful waking every few minutes) until 5 a.m. this morning.

With acetaminophen I was able to work from 7 to almost 5 and get payroll done. Yay!

Executive decision made to not call my boss in to close my payroll on her Christmas holiday! So I holed up in my office with door shut and got it done. I think I’ve turned a corner but I still have a dreadful head pain in my left sinus cavity. And a dreadful cold is setting in. I think the fever is gone.

This weekend I plan on reopening my gifts. I was in such misery on Christmas Day.

Other than that it was or would have a great time. Here’s the aftermath lol! And before.

Mom and Maddie were cute in their Christmas wear. Mom threatened to take her home but no go from me!

Maddie has been such a friend while I didn’t feel good. She was there for every toss and turn during the night. I thanked her for literally being on my side.

The dogs were very good.

Beautiful Cherie, my Aunt and Uncle’s dog.

Our time with family has come to an end, George got to spend time with Katy and River as they went to Opryland to do ICE and ride the boats inside Opryland hotel, eat at Chuy’s and go to McKayes. But- I had payroll and if not that, I’m not sure I could have done that much activity today.

A lonely payroll day was just what the doctor ordered. I can drink liquids and take meds and be productive.

Our Texas crew heads out Thursday. They have plans tomorrow with friends. And our Florida crew leaves tomorrow.

I’m excited for the weekend and rest and not going anywhere. Or doing anything. We have been invited to a party but I think I really just need to rest. The following weekend we have our Knoxville family in town and we are excited to see them.

So I’m going to go get in bed. I might read.

I’m thinking I might be late with the next video. I have not had time nor have felt like working on it. I think everyone will understand. Sometimes when I say that I work a miracle so don’t count me out yet. But I don’t have much time left. It’s not looking good. No more PTO time this year. I’m saving a few days to roll over. Two or three. Need to make sure I have plenty of time in March when the baby comes.

Hopefully I’ll get a good sleep tonight but I have a feeling that might be a couple nights down the road. The drainage and coughing are setting in.

So hope you and your family had a good Christmas. I’ll be back by the weekend with my annual Year in Review and my goals and changes for 2024.

This year is going to fly by! And I’m excited about so many things. If I can just feel better and quit having bad luck.

Just rest and take care of yourself. Everything was lovely and we enjoyed being with everyone over the holidays. We are heading out in the morning and will stay overnight on the road and then we will get home during the afternoon.

Oh my love, I’m so sorry that Christmas was so hard for you and I’m sure for George and Kate who must be worried about you ( but perhaps try to hide it, so as not to worry you more ). However that’s another year over and you can start looking forward to 2024. Your RETIREMENT year. The year you must take time just to be yourself time to get all your health problems sorted out once and for all. Now there’s something to look forward to. We had a quiet Christmas indeed quietest ever. Didn’t even cook a Christmas meal….( We were out Christmas Eve for our Christmas meal….). After church and opening presents we had time to tidy around and Peter took us to see my BIL who was 92 on Xmas eve. Must go someone at the door

Oh no, Sonya! This does seem to happen to you every Christmas. I’m happy you were able to hang in there and make the most of it anyway. Prayers that you feel better soon! Your house sure looked festive with all the gifts and food.

I’m so sorry you got sick. It’s going around here too. Daughter was sick first then Grandson. They got antibiotics though and are feeling much better.
We had our Christmas celebration on Christmas Eve. I cooked and husband fixed the glazed ham with pineapple. That helped.
It looks like little Roo had a big Christmas.
Your Mom looks good in her black and red sweater. She has the prettiest gray hair.
Get some rest as much as you can and drink orange juice. Hopefully you will be better by New Years.

It makes my day when I hear from you...
