Managing Life with Grace and Ease….or Maybe NOT!

George and I enjoyed our Friday, his first day of retirement. I cooked him the breakfast, we worked on things at home, and then went to our financial meeting which was an important one. Things are all fine for us to both retire. Him now, and me in about a year. I can’t believe it is so close.

We then went to Double Dogs and ate dinner. It was a really nice day.

Saturday (yesterday) we went and picked up the kids (my Texas family who I refer to as “the kids” – my daughter, her hubby and our almost 3 year old grandson).

We went to Jonathan’s to eat after that.

I caught him at a time when he was thinking about something, I guess. He was playing a game on the phone. He had not had his nap because of the flights and travel, so he was a little sleepy. But he managed to stay strong and get through the meal. He’s getting to be a big boy. Potty training is going very well!

I had a stuffed backed potato with pulled pork BBQ. It was so good.

Also here is a phone wallpaper if you want it. I got it from Canva. I thought this was pretty. BTW, I never found my placemats for Christmas (my wipe off ones), so I ordered some more and they have deer on them and trees like this so this reminds me of that. We have so many deer around here that it is fitting.

Timeblocking with Google

I set up a Google Calendar using my google account that I already had. And I decided to try to time block each week. I did the first week. This week is weird. First of all it was the FIRST time I did it. A quick learning curve. I set up different calendars for different parts of me that required time. You know: Work, Mom, Commute, Personal. Since this week was an odd ball I just set up everything without having it repeat. Starting next week I can build my schedule to repeat itself and then week to week I only have to adjust things. I probably should make sleep a different calendar b/c it looks like I have more personal time than I really do. World Bible School probably needs its own calendar too or maybe put anything that is God’s work or spiritual related in ONE calendar. I will make those adjustments for next week.

As you can see Mom gets a huge chunk of me 3 days of the week. I have her greyed out in the grey boxes. Blue is my corporate day job. Black is commute time. Green is personal which includes sleep currently. Video Editing is maroon. But I may make that into YouTube Red. lol I’m just getting started. I also placed the link in my Notion. It was very complicated to add it as a calendar in Notion, so I just put the link and it goes right to it. This week I can tell already I don’t have enough time to edit the video for Saturday. So something will be hampered. I’m not sure how all that will shake out. I’m a little worried about it. I should be editing now.

I have the funeral on the calendar of Cody’s grandma. George is going but I cannot miss work but will go to the visitation the night before. I put the kids flights on the schedule just so I remember they are flying at that time. George is taking them to the airport. I gave them my car for the days they are here. But is it not a busy week?

The kids are coming over soon and we are doing take out. And guess who cannot eat again!!!

Another Diverticulitis Flare

So, I’m not sure what is doing it. I brought lettuce back on to the scene. I ate chicken sausage. And I ate tomatoes. I had a hamburger and wings at double dogs. Something has inflamed it. So I’m having to go back to square one and do liquids today. I munched on dry cereal during Sunday school class though because I had not had time for breakfast and didn’t want to be hungry.

I’m pretty upset that it is back. I’m very upset matter of fact. But I am just going to have to figure out what is doing it and make sure I get that cut out of my life. The suspect foods right now are: tomatoes, lettuce, chicken sausage (processed meats), spicy foods. I didn’t have any trouble with the bacon though at Thanksgiving. And the wings were not that spicy. Plus I have had spaghetti, and it didn’t seem to bother me. Only now that I think of it, I did have spaghetti on Thursday and had a burning feeling in my esophagus on Friday. So I don’t know.

I’ll see if I come out of it but I may have to go to the doctor soon again. The problem is that Mom already has two doc appointments making me miss TWO half days of work this week. I’ve used all my bucket hours, so I’m having to go in early at 6:45 to try and make it up. I can’t stay late on Monday because we go to a funeral visitation. So this is just a pretty busy week. I don’t think stress is causing it but I don’t think it helps it any.

Anyway, I need to video edit for as much time as I can til they get here. Oh and we need to feed the dogs.

Ok over and out. Please pray for me. You have NO idea how discouraged I am. Family is here and I cannot have anything but broth. I am trying to be positive and content anyway, but there have been a few tears. I just cannot help it. I love food and I want to be able to eat. I’m trying to change my lifestyle but it’s hard to do. See ya tomorrow.

Oh Sonya, I’m so sorry you have this diverticulitis thing again. I feel so bad for you! I’ll be saying a prayer that it goes away quickly.

Oh Sonya,I’m so sorry the tummy is playing up again. I have to say I’m almost sure it’s 90% stress that’s doing it. You live life at such a pitch it’s not good for “man nor dog “ is a saying we have over here…don’t know if you will have heard it before but not taking time out for yourself will catch up with you in the end. I’m sure I’ve said to you before….probably more than once….if you were to fall and break a leg etc you could not go to work or in this instance go to Mum….and work would continue and Mum would get help. The world woudnt stop…the one thing that should stop is YOU….please love I hate to see/ feel you so stressed…YOU are the only one who can help yourself…no amount of changing your diet will work long term unless you SLOW DOWN…..take care ❤️❤️

I know it’s pretty stressful especially the holidays.

I don’t have diverticulitis, but I do have IBS. And I know this , iceberg lettuce is something I will never ever eat again . I don’t know if that is your culprit
…. I just know to avoid it regardless how badly I want a salad. Prayers for you to feel better ASAP.

It’s on my suspect list. My doc says I have IBS as well. I think they go hand in hand!

It makes my day when I hear from you…

I’m Sonya
