Managing Life with Grace and Ease….or Maybe NOT!

Hello there! Vlogmas Day 11 here. I’m sharing my very simple recipe for the popular sausage balls I fix every year for Christmas. I usually make 2 batches so there’s enough to have leftovers. We sneak a few on Christmas Eve, and we love to have these on Christmas morning with our coffee, while we open stockings and wait for everyone else to get to our house.

I cannot take credit for the recipe. It comes in one of the first cookbooks I ever received, Cooking Adventures cookbook, by CA (Columbia Academy) – the first one that came out. This recipe was shared by Cheri Eaton and Marie Judd.

SAUSAGE BALLS

2 cups Bisquick

1 lb hot sausage (you can use mild if you like)

1 cup grated cheddar cheese

Mix together well. Roll into small balls. Place on greased baking sheet (make sure it has sides to it though so any grease that comes out won’t drip in your oven). Bake at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes.

Ovens have changed some since this recipe and differ – so keep an eye on them just in case. They will need to be browned and will be done inside – you can’t have raw sausage! You can tear one open and see! That is my method.

We love these at Christmastime. I’m not sure why I don’t make them more often than just Christmas. They would actually be great to make, freeze, and take a few here and there to work for breakfast.

So we went to George’s company party last night. The dinner was catered by Two Fat Men Catering and was Devine. Each employee got two drinks each. So we used our tickets up.

I’ve not heard if my company is having a party or not. Nothing has been mentioned. We used to get a catered meal. Usually we get a $25 Walmart card for Thanksgiving, but we didn’t get that this year either. I guess we’ve all been bad employees, lol.

Anyway, George’s party was nice and we were home by 8:30 or so. We did not stay for any dancing, lol. But that meal was awesome. They had some Mississippi Mud desserts too that were out of this world. I’m going to have to make some.

While we were there, we got a text from our daughter, Katy that Little Roo had seen Santa. At least he wasn’t crying like he was with the Easter Bunny. Isn’t he getting to be a big boy? Santa looks like he is enjoying himself. I get to see my grandson again in about two weeks.

This morning Mom didn’t go to church because she was waiting for Aunt Martha and Uncle Ken to arrive. But they didn’t come yet. She said she was ready to get out of the house. I guess so. We last took her out on Sunday for a big meal out to a nice restaurant and then a big grocery shopping. And of course we worked all week and have been getting over all our little illnesses of gout, vertigo, ear infections/sore throats, etc. But I was off Friday to get a handle on Christmas.

George and I are doing good I think. We worked on stocking stuffers today after church, after a quick Subway stop. And have been wrapping some this afternoon.

At Pop Shelf the Christmas items were 50% off through today. I should have bought some but our tree is full. lol

So I need to discuss the list of thing with George and see what he thinks. I may still need to get a few things for some people. I also need to wrap George’s gifts this week and also make sure his stocking is good. I cannot do his stuff with him around so I may have to wait til Friday or close myself off in the office.

We will now be moving into the planning stages of dinner on Christmas Eve and then Christmas Day lunch spread at our house where everyone arrives and opens gifts and eats after. I’m thinking of making a quiche to go along with the sausage balls Christmas Day. Then we will have a lunch spread when Cody and Katy arrive which might be later than the rest of the crew. We will feed both.

So we’ll be focusing on that. And that is what is going on at our house.

So we are waiting to see when Aunt Martha and Uncle Ken arrive. Mom is supposed to let me know they arrive. Let’s see if she remembers. 😉

Ok off to finish wrapping. What are you guys doing this weekend?

    Hi Sonya!
Wow! Little Roo has gotten so big! He has that perfect little boy face. Adorable! He is going to be a hoot this Christmas! We will be having our 4th grand baby on Christmas this year and I can’t wait to have a little again to buy toys and stuffies again! Enjoy your time with your grandson! 🙂
I just made a quiche. Two of them. One with sausage and bacon and cheese and the other spinach and tomato and cheese. I make mine with half and half and they came out nice. I may try to make your recipe for sausage balls for our Christmas eve. They will be a hit!
You and George look pretty and handsome at the party. Looks like a lot of fun! A drink sounds so nice right about now! lol I haven’t had one in a few months. My drink of choice is Long Island Iced Tea’s. Which get me in a lot of trouble but they are so good!

I just finished buying my last gifts today. Now to finish wrapping. The food for Christmas day will be Italian! Salad, lasagna, meatballs and chicken parm. Dessert will be cheesecake with strawberry topping. I’m not sure on what else but I’m sure there will be pie of some sort ! We went non traditional this year. As long as everyone is happy then we are happy!

    Have a good week ahead!

Another great Vlogmas today. I loved the photo of you and George I’m hoping you keep it and use it for next years Christmas Card you both look so happy. Glad you got more of your wrapping etc done. You asked what we were doing yesterday ( Sunday) the answer ? Very little. We woke to a heavy snow covering and icy temps. -5 which I think is around 28f. The leadership team 4 of us did a quick chat and decided we should cancel church, there was no way at least us 4 would attempt to go on the icy roads. We divided up the list of everyone who comes to church regularly and set to calling them. They were all grateful as of course was our minister Rev Simon he lives in Bath and although main road might have been ok the roads getting to the main road were dangerous. We were sad cause we had expected to go out with Beth and Max for Sunday lunch but no way would we expect them to drive over from Bristol., but we did miss seeing them very much…so we really did very little other than watch TV !! This morning the snow is still lying but Peter has got out onto the main road…well I hope…he hadn’t come back so he should be fine. Temp at the moment is -0 which is 30f. I think …. Take care this week. God Bless

Oh it will be snow season here before long – Jan to early March for us. You are quite a bit higher up to the No than we are too. Be careful and staying home is good if you don’t have to get out in it!

A silly question maybe – I assume it should be ground sausage for the sausage balls?

    1. LessHustleMoreCoffee Avatar

Yes a regular tube of ground sausage- not like kielbasa or links

It makes my day when I hear from you…
