Visiting The Christmas Place Store and George’s Pizzette’s

Whenever I’m in a bad mood, I’ll just head over to the Christmas Store, where it’s happy and magical inside. It’s a bit like going through Disney. The spirit and magic of Christmas flows through you. The elves decorated the place up beautifully. I had to go around twice. The first time was for the vlog and blog as I took video and and photos. The second time I was able to take more of it in.

Did I buy something? Yes! I bought a little Roger ornament. It looked very much like him except we need to add a little pink tongue. lol. I’ll take a pic closer to Christmas when I get him back out again and hang him on the tree.

I’m pretty fond of this polar bear. And think it would be really fun to play Christmas-Opoly. I wish I had looked to see how much it was.

I know Mom was happy to get out of the house. The store was crowded though so she did a quick run through the store with mask on and back in the car. But she got some pictures and even a video.

Tis the Reason for the Season!

It really put us in the spirit yesterday. The day was cloudy and very cool with a high in the 50’s and a pretty good breeze at times. It was sweatshirt weather.

As per yesterday’s post, I guess you saw the next video was out.

I was pretty happy to have only a 2 week turnaround instead of 3. But we had a bit more downtime, less going on at home, plus I gave up some blog time.

Ok so real quick- look at the style on the left and the style on the right from those videos. I really like my style longer, without bangs, and more of a bob with long layers. And sadly, without the glasses. I almost considered going back to contacts but I think they will be hard to fit. My doctor discouraged it. So here was yesterday. No make up here and a little touch up or two, and hair not really styled and very much windblown from the day – but I chose not to get anything cut off the top. I did get the bottom cut and shaped as it will be most likely February before I’ll have time to get it cut again. I’m not even making an appointment until probably January, if then.

Mom keeps telling me my hair is not looking as good as it did. She saw me in a video earlier in the year and said my hair was grayer. And lighter and said it’s darker now and that I need to start using her shampoo to make the grey grayer (whiter) again. I guess she will just have to look at my darker hair. I hate it bothers her so as she has mentioned it several times. She’s also not hesitant to bring out flaws of anyone else she sees on TV that she does not like their looks, lol lol lol. I tried her blue shampoo and I was not fond of it. I like my shampoo set ups that I have and if it keeps me younger looking rather than a “white as snow older” look, then great! We’ll get there soon enough. Let’s not wish it there. I imagine that what she saw earlier had been cut away when I got it cut. Don’t worry, it’ll grow back and be more noticeable as it grows.

Yesterday we also went to Jason’s Deli and I had the chicken pot pie soup which was really good. I saw they had free ice cream for all – the soft serve in a mini cone. I had just had my 1 per week dessert of Key Lime Pie the day before with it’s 44 grams of sugar (yikes). But I could not turn down the free soft serve. It was more than two bites, lol. So I broke my rule. Who takes two bites out of a cone and throws the rest away? Not me. At least it was mini and I didn’t eat all of the cone. It wasn’t much.

We also went to the Dollar Tree yesterday and I bought a bunch of Christmas sacks. I did not hold back. I don’t know how much time I’m going to have to wrap this year, so I just went to town on the sacks. I bought some headbands to put my hair back with at home. They were loose and don’t grab onto my head so I can’t tell it’s there. I wore one last night running around the house.

Prayer Journaling

I was so happy yesterday and relieved to be done with quarter end. I don’t have that tension on my shoulders. I didn’t get to do my devo and prayer time and devo after my shower as we were about to head out so I did it when we got home. I had a glass of Grateful Red (making fun of the Grateful Dead, lol -a rock band) along with a shirt that says Gratitude.

Here was my entry yesterday in the prayer journal.

I not only pray to God in it but try to be detailed enough of my thoughts that some day when I’m gone, Katy or River can have it to remember me by. Not sure how long the blogs will stay on line when I’m older and decide not to pay for the separate domains anymore, so most of my online blogs will be toast at some point. Virtual space that will go POOF one day and will then belong to someone else for some other reason. So my daily journaling throughout the end of my life will be the only “blogs” left. It is a prayer journal but it houses my fears and hopes and problems. The main reason for keeping it is to reveal how God really does answer our prayers to those that believe in Him. At the end of each journal book I go back and list all the ways he answered the prayers for that book. Very powerful. He shows me so many things when I come to Him. He is a friend and a confidant and He loves to show me nature on the days we are the closest.

There were some really intense and low feeling days in the last year or so and I’ll never forget the bobcat that came and sat on my window. I mean we are in an office complex! He answered a lot of questions with that bobcat. To me it was a sign that I’m strong, that He is strong for me, and that I’m self-reliant, and that need to learn and listen more and speak less. It was also taken as a sign of change, or that change is coming. And it has and it continues to do so. Change never stops. We have to embrace what we have before us, as it will always be different as time passes.

George’s Pizzettes

He made the rosemary dough up a day ahead. And then we had our personal pizzas last night with whatever ingredients we wanted. He bought the real mozzarella!

I thought to get a pic after eating half of mine already – above is one of George’s before it was cooked, and below is half of my pepperoni one.

Yes it is as good as it looks. I also had a red wine, Rioja, with it, and it went very well together. I really liked that Rioja wine. It was dark, deep, pleasant, smooth, bold. I am not good at describing wine. I’m not a snob, lol. But it worked well!

We have a little “beggar” in the house. Miss Fancy Lou!

George was happy to comply by giving her some shredded cheese.

I noticed that Little Bit had circled every hour on the hour from about 3:30 to 8:30 so George let him in. We have to work on his winter box and get it on the porch so he has a warm bed again. He stayed in for a little while and then we put him out with treats. It was not supposed to get to cold last night.

Sleep was good last night. Not much time for housework either. The house will probably not get a good cleaning until after we move Mom and will probably be “on the go” or a bit at a time as needed – as it becomes urgent – lol. I will probably not dust again until the day after Thanksgiving. lol lol. When I’m redecorating for Christmas that day.

Today’s agenda includes the following:

Getting the blog done, laundry finished, ironing, changing George’s sheets, getting Halloween candy to take to work as I’ve been eating some fellow coworker’s Reese’s – just the “one or two bites” -lol. I have to restock a few things for the work week. We are going to look at fridge’s today with Mom. Although we don’t have measurements yet for the area so we can’t really buy anything yet til we know for sure. And then we are going for Cori Dogs if they are open. I may go in Penny’s for a second. And maybe bath and body works. I have a coupon for a free item with any purchase.

Ok, not sure if I will be here tomorrow or Wednesday. I go into work early on Tuesday so no blog then. If I have anything new to share I’ll be here tomorrow, if not probably Wednesday. Tomorrow we go see Mom’s new house, so I’ll be itching to share on Wednesday for sure! We are very excited. We have to take a “pluggable item” with us tomorrow so we know if the electrical outlets work. I’m going to video it and also take pics. And then also do a real walk through to test things without the camera in hand. Then I have to be at work by 12:30 to do time sheets and prep for Tuesday’s payroll. But I’m off on Friday which means I will have to bust butt during the week and it’s also month end. But I have til the 15th. Ye Ha. Busy times.

You have a good week too! Our fall leaves really just started turning good the last few days. So I’m hoping to get some photos soon, if I have time for mini photo shoot with the good camera. But that is not priority right now. More later. Let me know if you made it to the end. Long one today.

Next Video is Live on YouTube: Less Hustle More Coffee

Well I surprised myself and got it done. Had a bit of extra time in the evenings and also gave up some blog time to have vlog time. So the next video is out. I’m putting both the link and the video embed here, whichever you prefer.

Less Hustle More Coffee YouTube Video

This one is our Memorial Day Weekend of moving Momma in the cargo van. It’s me with some car chronicles, my explaining some Thred Up that I do. George gives us some side humor. I show the insides of Mom’s house while we are packing and her back yard and back patio. Notice how tired I am at the end. lol. It may not be the most interesting of videos compared to many we have done, but then again, how interesting is a move? I added a lot of music, graphics and of course you will love George.

I’m excited to get another one done. We’ll have some more fun ones coming. I think the next one is us getting the house ready for Mom. The Zoo is coming up and some little side trips that George and I did. So if you have not Subscribed to the YouTube channel go ahead if you would like so you won’t miss the next video when it comes out. It’s free but you do have to sign up and I think it’s mainly just an email address. Be sure to give it a thumbs up on YouTube and a comment.

So George and Mom and I are enjoying the weekend. We went out today for a mini excursion to get Mom out of the house. Plus I wanted to go to the Christmas Shop and the Dollar Store. So we did all that and went out to eat at Jason’s Deli. I’ll share pics tomorrow morning on the blog here.

George is fixing pizzettes for dinner tonight (little mini pizzas). I need to go do some more laundry. But I’m trying to enjoy this last weekend before we get busy moving Mom and fixing our house back and shopping and all that we have coming up. It’ll be fun but busy.

I’m just so glad quarter end is over. My goodness what a month. I’m so thankful not to have that on my mind. Of course it’s month end again and several monthly taxes I pay but I have til November 15th and those are easy and not filled with tense moments. My mind is just relieved to have the QE done.

More tomorrow, just wanted to drop you a line and let you know the video is UP!

Sunrises and Rainbows, Moves and Changes, and Quarter End Crunches

We have had lots of beautiful sunrises and sunsets and rainbows. I’ll scatter the pics across today’s post. The camera doesn’t quite catch the beauty, especially in the window. I’ve used my photo editing on the Mac to try and correct the photo to what I actually saw. The iPhone camera seems to be deteriorating over time. Is that possible? It just doesn’t have the precision it used to, but soon I’ll be upgrading to the 13 – either Pro or Max – not sure which.

I hesitate to even blog today. Have mostly been working on quarter end and the next video while at home. Thank goodness at home, I’ve had less to do. It’s the calm that God is delighting us with before the storm of a busy season and moving again of Mom and getting her settled.

I only have two more returns to do today and both are bigger ones. The federal return for Transport, I stayed and worked on yesterday and have a draft copy ready to go. I will seek advisement from my boss on the COVID amounts and how that impacts it. I will let her look at it before sending it in to have it blessed before I do. I also have an STT return to do and pay the tax for – for Oregon. That takes about 1.5 to 2 hours and the computer (online) does not save your work for manual entry. So you have to have something to drink, have been to the bathroom, and a good stretch of time, and no interruptions because if times out – you are screwed and have to start all over. Can you tell I’ve been there done that?

I had a return yesterday that even though it had a save button, I didn’t know that the system had already timed me out. I had stopped to answer a question or phone call or something like that and went back to it. (This was doing the Oregon “all in one” return where I have to manually enter all the employees, their earnings, their withholdings, their hours worked). I entered everyone and it let me but when I went to save it – it would not do anything. I printed out the page before trying to save it (thank goodness) as I had looked up all that info from various reports. But I had timed out and it went back to the log in. (Insert eye roll emoji.) So putting it back at least when I entered it the 2nd time – I at least had a print out and didn’t have to look up the data from various sources again. Except it was in a different order (insert favorite eye roll emoji here). Then I was .52 cents off, lol lol. But I found it pretty quickly.

I wasn’t going to eat lunch out but this week I’ve not had any good frozen meals that looked appealing. I’ve eaten those for weeks now. And I don’t want McDonald’s which is the only fast food place really close without driving 10 to 15 minutes. So I went to Santa Fe and got fish tacos one day. It’s really close to work.

They were real corn tortilla’s. The fish was good and on my “list” of things to eat once a week at least. So it was all so good. And I was done in 45 minutes which was surprising.

I did the bad thing and went for fish and chicken dinner at Captain D’s yesterday. It was good to have the time away and my head out of the numbers and papers for a few minutes. It appeared that I would have time to get everything done and I’m on the last stretch and will barely make it.

We’ve had a lot of rainbows.

I’m sorry my iPhone camera is just not pulling through for me these days but hopefully it’s better than nothing. It was also a low light situation with the sun just coming up.

This was a great shot after work yesterday. There’s my car too.

A beautiful display of the storm squall as it passed through and also appeared to be dissipating. I’ve started taking the back roads. The interstates have been full of aggressive drivers lately, people just trying to run over you, pulling in front of you, tailing you, racing and threading in and out of traffic at high speeds. The trucks are going fast and often do not seem prepared to brake (some do and I give them credit), but the ones who don’t taint the outlook of having to drive with them around. Lately there have been people shot at on the interstate, pointing guns at people on the interstate, police chases, horrible wrecks shutting it down (of course, stupid drivers aggressive behavior catching up to them), fatalities, and you know, I want to live to see my grandchild grow up and be able to enjoy my retirement days. So I’ve decided to take backroads. It takes 10 to 15 minutes longer on some days but I just enjoy the ride now and go at safer speeds and usually the crazy people are on the interstate. Not always but usually as they are too impatient to take back roads. There are more lights and school zones. I just have a good audio book on and it gets me through. Or some good music. So my commutes are back up to 45 min long now instead of the 23 minutes on the interstate during virus times. But oh well. At least I’m safer. Not really sure what it will be like when I have to go to the new plant. All that remains to be seen and we’ll either readjust something or make some “difficult decisions”. A lot of our office employees live even further out than me and our offices will be moving south of town. I’m pretty worried about losing a lot of our office staff when the time comes. Some people already spend 45 to an hour getting there and will be looking at doubling their time. Change comes and it comes often and we have to be prepared. At least there are job openings everywhere now. Some even at home or anywhere you want to be as long as there is internet.

I love my job except for maybe a few weeks out of the year, this being one of them. It is not always a convenient job for being able to go see my family in Texas. Quarter end and holidays are always the best times for us personally to go but not the best time for me from a work standpoint. That has been tough. We wanted to go for Thanksgiving which is ideal personally and also for Katy but it puts too much stress on others that have to do my job when I’m gone. So we gave up that idea. Only 3 years to retirement. But we’ll have to see what this move brings and how long the drive is on the back roads because I don’t want to take the interstate. That is in an even rougher part of town.

We have enough going on right now though than to worry about the office job location change and commute. We’ll worry about that one later. Right now we are about to embark on moving Momma again.

Monday we see the house from the inside for the first time. And then a week from today is closing. We are all getting excited. We are not excited for the move itself. I worry about George but it will be easier and we can take our time this time. Mom will have to buy a lot of appliances. We’ll have to line shelves and all that. It’s going to take a bit to get it all settled enough for her to move in. But it’s about to happen.

I like to organize and decorate so will help her with that. I also like unpacking but it’s hard when it’s someone else’s stuff.

I’m also looking forward to having my big bed back, my closet back, my bathroom back and more space across the board. I’m looking forward to us eating while we watch a show and not at the table, so we have time to watch our shows again. George has to rush to the back to Mom’s room where his computer is to pay the bills and do things on line so he is usually doing that after dinner – either that or delaying dinner by doing it before. He often would get in there in the mornings but she is asleep so he can’t do it then. It’s been a reshuffle for sure on our routine but it’s been for a good cause and we knew it was only temporary. When I move back into my bedroom, I will have the bigger closet space and shelving and can get my fall clothes out and will have my shoe rack back instead of this two little baskets I’ve been using. Then I can put my office stuff back in the closet shelves and bring my extra office table back and my supplies and camera equipment can sit about again and I can get the office stuff out from the baskets under the bed. I have to stand on my head to get any thing out of them. So I’m glad Mom will have her own space and we can go back to what we are used to. And to our routines. I’m also going to be glad to have my recliner back. I’ve missed it!

So not only do we have to move Mom but we’ll be doing some internal moves in our own house as well getting things back to the way we like them. Even little things like having my robe hang in the bathroom instead of the bedroom and having my towel rack back. And not having to change the bathroom trash as often. I’ve had to change it every other day instead of the usual once a week. An easy task but that has been one Mom has completely “let me” do. I have to chuckle at that. lol

Anyway, I’m going for more coffee and need to head in to do this last day of Quarter End. I’ll probably be back on Sunday for an update. The last hoorah weekend before we start running around like chickens with our heads cut off again. I’ll work on the video tomorrow instead of blogging but will be back Sunday. I’m making good progress on video but likely be the following weekend before it’s up and live. Just a bit more editing and graphics and overlays and it’ll be time to upload.

Oh but let me leave you with this. This is the audio book I’m doing currently. It’s pretty good. It involved an RV trip is why I downloaded it. ha!

Have a great weekend! What you gonna do this weekend? I think we are gonna rest! Might go to the new Christmas shop though.
