Managing Life with Grace and Ease….or Maybe NOT!

I’m sitting here this morning with my cup of coffee staring at a blank screen! Hmmmm! Yes, I can always just start typing and something comes out. My mind is both boggled and yet blank. It’s just a bottleneck-like effect. So many things going on in my mind and so it’s all stuck and nothing comes out. If it does it’ll all come out at once in a cluster fest and not understandable. lol So here goes……

So, George sent me a LONG email yesterday outlining the weekends of the rest of May and June! And I thought I was the planner! He makes an excellent project manager. He has this one down on handling Mom’s move. I don’t know what I would do without him. He grounds me, he keeps it real, and he is keeping Mom and I focused on things. He is definitely a step ahead of us in getting the move done step by step. I keep saying we are eating an elephant. And we keep eating more and more on this “Move Mom Project”. In addition we have family coming from Florida and Texas. So excited! And we have a few events of our own we are working in.

So the closing on Mom’s house is Tuesday June 1. I don’t know if it is officially that date but that is a Tuesday. I hadn’t not ascertained that would actually be the real closing date and I hope it can move or be adjusted by a day or two or three. Tuesday’s I do payroll and I don’t wish to thwart that off on someone else. It’s just so easy for me to do it and more difficult for someone else to do it that doesn’t do it every week. It’s different when you are gone on vacation for a whole week but just to be gone on the exact payroll day makes no sense and it becomes difficult for all. George understands and has agreed to take Mom to closing for this day if he needs to. Thank goodness. I’m so glad that George is so kind to do this for me and for Mom. I want to be there so bad, but geez, really – a Tuesday? So we’ll see what happens.

The gas thing could cause a twerk in our weekend plans. We are still “hoping” to drive to Columbia and we have full tanks in our vehicles right now. We need enough to get down there and back and then have enough to get us back and forth to work all week too. I have a station near my work that not many know about and it still had gas yesterday where I could fill up, no lines. As people discover it, it too will dwindle.

This weekend’s plans are to go ahead and rent the storage building and also the cargo van for Memorial Day weekend. And hopefully to get lots of boxes to Mom in Columbia and bring some loads back as well if we think we can with the gas shortage going on.

I also need to be starting my projects here which involve moving some things around in anticipation of Mom coming so she has a place for her clothes and bathroom related items. It’s about to get serious. So I need to move some closets around, move my office things around also to make room for a bed (cot) in there. I just have to maintain a separate sleeping area of my own so that I can work and drive without falling asleep. I can’t sleep with George and Roger anymore. It was becoming a health issue b/c of the interruptions to my sleep. It’s dramatically improved since I sleep on my own. Gosh I can’t tell you how good the sleep is now to get hours of solid sleep in a row. I don’t want to lose that. I hate to spend the money on the bed, but I think I will be miserable and difficult to live with if I am not able to get my sleep/rest. So it’s a really big deal for me. Even Mom wants to use her mattress from her house on the guest bed, so we’ll have to move that around and store that downstairs. I wondered if it would fit in my office but I don’t think there will be room for that really. I probably will just go ahead and order the cot today.

Ha ha! NO pic of my hair yet. Except what is on the floor here. I’ll try to get you a pic. But my hair/head feels so much better after getting several inches cut off. My stylist did a great job. Someone came in right after I did though and wanted a hair washing. It was an older lady. A walk in. One of my favorite parts is the shampoo and the styling. But my salon stylist was rushing to try to get to them and hardly had time to do the style. ::sigh:: I didn’t say anything, but I also understand their business has been slow and she needed the extra $ for the walk-in. It was unfortunate the other folks had to wait. I offered for her to go ahead and do the walk-in’s hair wash but she said “no, it’ll take 45 min as I have to style it too and you were first and she did not have an appt”. Anyway it was a bit rushed. Much to my surprise it was only $20 for the cut. I gave her a good tip and then realized when I got home just how little she charged me. I honestly had not paid attention really to the amount other than figuring my percent of tip and doing the math. But I texted her telling her she undercharged me. A cut like this should be at least $40 in these parts. She worked on my hair for over an hour. She is so good. I will do something for her one of these days. She didn’t want me to bring more money by. But yes, I will have to think of something to do for her – I will pay her back in some way. I think Mom will like her too for her hair. We’ll see if she likes my style.

So….we are also having to think of the upcoming appointments we will need. I told Mom I would need to schedule some time to get Fancy trimmed way ahead and Mom is going to go ahead and get Fancy’s rabies shot so we’ll have the papers. I have to get a Saturday appointment and I’ll make it for late June when I know Mom will be here. She will get Fancy trimmed another time there. I’m excited to have Mom and Fancy come stay with us for a while.

I will print a list of things to remember when you move. We will have to cut off utilities and such. And Mom’s mail will need to be forwarded. So much to think of it makes your head swim.

The video is DONE! I found some video I had missed and I had to edit some more but it’s Done. Now I just have to export it, do the thumbnail, and upload into YouTube. So we are getting close. Expect it on the weekend! 😉

So I’m little concerned over finances. George said we are spending way too much on Amazon. Well the problem is we are STILL paying for Christmas over our Amazon charges. We use the Amazon reward cards as we get $ back. But we went wild at Christmas. We are still planning on getting the flooring though once Mom gets in and gets settled here at the house and we are in between moves!

I had to order some more things recently on Amazon. The health and wellness company I use – my autoship is on that card, and I am about to order some outfits for River as he’s at the next size of clothing. I told Katy I’d help her as he advanced to each size. And then I’ve got to order this cot for my office. After that, I’m going to slow down and not order anything but vitamins and strictly things we need. I also need to buy a couple of white towels and also some tea glasses at Target. We also have to put a front railing on the front stairs so Mom can come and go more steady on the front steps. But I can soon cut my spending after that. I will probably pay for the $159 annual fee for year long free shipping with my wellness company. I just think that is worth it since I order so much. I will need to look at my monthly subscriptions again but honestly don’t really want to give those up. I think we can look at the cable bill and the cell bill though and maybe lower those in some capacity.

We have $$ in investments but just worried about the cash flow a bit with all that is going on as George wants to pay off the Amazon but we keep charging on it. LOL. We will figure it out but it’s on my mind to slow down my spending a bit. I was going to get a pedi this week. Should I? I may just do my own, but….yeah I’ll probably go get one, lol! I like the softer feet! I can’t get them that soft. We can always not eat out as much. I say that today as I’m going out to eat at Paula Deen’s. I’m buying my bosses lunch too as she bought mine last week.

Anyway, we’ll figure it out. It’s just a puzzle, and we are not hurting by any means but we do need to dial it back some. That said, I’ll be ordering some things tonight when I get home! Insert crazy face emoji here!

Oh and I get my 2nd vaccine today too. A little worried (ok a lot worried) about that. It’s the Moderna one. But I’ve prayed there are no side effects and I that I don’t grow a 2nd nose or 3rd ear or have blood clots or organ failure or paralyzation. Are you all vaccinated yet? I’m officially ready to be over the mask wearing too. I’m so over it. At this point just about everyone that desires to be vaccinated has been given an opportunity to do so and the rest have taken their chances not to be, so I think we should agree to let the masks go! Well maybe after the children but the adults with health issues and older adults were the biggest risk. Let’s drop the masks! It’s time now.

Hi Sonya, I do laugh at you and your spending, in one sentence your saying you must cut back, next sentence your going to have to order something or other !!! I am sure though that you will work things out. It’s just going to be an expensive few months for you. Glad Mums got her final date. Does that mean that she has to be moved out of the house on that day to let new owners in.? Or can she leave earlier or later ? It’s a bit different from over here…what is a cot ? Is it a kind of bed ? a cot here is only for babies or little ones before the go up to a ..big bed….??
I hope you do get your pedicure at least it will let you sit still and relax some. Must go think my chicken in the oven might need my attention !
Hope driving home today is nice and not to crowded. God Bless

I laugh at myself over it! Just got the cot given to me by work so that saves me there! She has to be out toward end of June but will be pot more like mid June so we can move everything! Usually 30 days from closing the deal.

It’s interesting how things are so different in various places. Here in Canada (Ontario at least) when the deal closes you must be out of the house. Once the paperwork is done, the lawyer hands over the keys to the new owner. It can sometimes be a challenge time-wise! Usually though there are about 60 days from the offer being accepted to the final closing of the sale.

Oh cot is a small bed that can be moved in and moved out and usually foldable or on wheels

I am amazed at how much you get done. I hope you treat yourself to a mani-pedi. You sure deserve it. I think it will be fun having your mom stay with you. My Mom had something called a roll-away bed for when her niece and family came to visit. I am glad you are getting more sleep. That snoring is hard to sleep with.
My daughter does to Old Navy or Gap and gets really good sales on My grandson’s clothes. Boys do grow fast. Especially when it comes to shoes. Maybe your daughter can check them out. They might have baby clothes.
Hope you have a good weekend.

My work gave me one today – a cot and mattress foam thing that they were unable to use. I’m so blessed! Saved me $300!

I hope you aren’t having any ill effects from your 2nd shot. Maybe a sore arm or a little sluggishness. Maybe not.
I’m a lot sluggish today with no excuse.
    Hey…it’s Friday!! 👀 😎

I am. I felt bad all night but was a minor annoyance until mid morning when the fever started and I was dizzy. Came home and slept and have 102.1 now! Chills have subsided some.

I hope you rested today & are starting to feel better. 🤒
I guess we are on our way to being mask less!
        Take care~🤗
